Hey folks, welcome to another chat!
I'll get things started in just a few minutes.

What is the likely hood that the NHL goes on strike at the end of the current last or deal; if they do can they recover?
Gavin Lee
6:13
It's still definitely a possibility, but there is a real positive vibe coming out of the latest talks between the NHL and NHLPA.
The World Cup being shut down is actually probably a good sign for their negotiations, but we've also heard this whole song and dance before
So we'll still have to see.
6:14
In September we'll get an answer one way or the other.
As for coming back from another work stoppage, it certainly wouldn't destroy the game.

Any thoughts on TSN's top affiliated NHL prospects list?
Gavin Lee
6:15
There are certainly some placements that I do not agree with, but basically anyone that does a list like that is going to be wrong on a huge amount of it.
Button's rankings are generally very impacted by the World Junior tournament, and fluctuate greatly because of it.
6:16
That said, Kravtsov and Denisenko are excellent top-line prospects and Button is one of the few who hasn't seemed to forget about Cale Makar.
6:17
One name I'd have much higher is Ty Smith, New Jersey's pick.

With the Avs recent free fall do you see Sakic looking for offense on the trade market or staying with the young guys. Saw they just sent Jost down, probably good for him
Gavin Lee
6:18
For Jost, I do think it's good for him and I don't think it will be for long.
I've never been convinced the Avalanche were going to really "go for it" this year, and the freefall probably helps that.
6:19
They know they have more talent coming, and don't have to push.
Wouldn't be surprised if they make a little tweak to try and get in this year, but a big splash? I doubt it.
Fred
6:19
Gavin,do you think the Rangers will trade Kevin Hayes? And if so,what would be a decent return?
Gavin Lee
6:20
I definitely think they will trade Hayes, and he should bring a Derick Brassard-like return.
That is, a first and a good prospect. The rest of that trade was a little wonky, which obviously probably won't happen here.
6:21
That might seem like a lot for Hayes, but if people start an arms race there will be some team who pays it
John Mozeliak

Do the blues add a goalie to start in front of binnington and bench Allen, or do they add a starter moving binnington to a backup and still bench Allen?
Gavin Lee
6:21
Basically, you'd like to bench Jake Allen.
6:22
I'm sorry to tell you, but I'm not sure they can really get away from Allen this year.
The team doesn't have the cap space to be burying him in the minor leagues and try with some other name from the trade market
6:23
So they'd have to swap him somehow, and I don't know if what you'd have to pay to do it is worth it this year.
In the summer there will be some team willing to take a chance on Allen as a project
Pierre Dorion
6:23
Any way a handshake deal can be done with Stone/Duchene? Agree to a deal, trade and get assets, and then sign them back on July 1?
Gavin Lee
6:24
It's certainly possible, given that it would no one else would have to know about it.
But still unlikely.

everyone seems to think Carolina won the Nino-Rask deal. I like Rask more given he's competent in his own end.  Am I alone?
Gavin Lee
6:24
You're not alone, there are lots of people who like Rask.
6:25
Niederreiter is almost surely the better player though. He's extremely effective at what he does, just fell out of that role in Minnesota of late.
This one doesn't have to have a loser necessarily.
6:26
The Wild get a little more cap room and might be able to turn Rask around, and the Hurricanes get a big physical presence that can actually put the puck in the net

6:26
How much does Ferland get overpaid this offseason?
Gavin Lee
6:26
Ha. A lot.
He's so attractive as a deadline rental because of the cheap cost, but you're not wrong in thinking he'll get overpaid.
Elwood
6:27
How do you think the Rangers will handle Igor Shestyorkin (Shesterkin?) once he comes stateside?
