Gavin Lee
6:01
Hello folks, welcome to another live chat.
6:02
I'll let some things roll in and get started in a few minutes.
6:06
We have a trade!
6:07
Chicago acquires rights to Dominik Kuablik for a 2019 fifth round pick.
Not exactly what you were hoping for I assume
Dan
6:08
so now that the Ducks season is over, and assuming the do trade Silfverberg, which they should, what's their return?  And who else has trade value on the team that could get moved?  Thanks!
Gavin Lee
6:09
You don't have to jump off the bridge just yet, but I never really believed that Gibson could get them all the way there.
Silfverberg has been a target I've suggested all year, but he's not going to bring back a huge return.
I'd look at something like the Grabner trade from last season.
Nim
6:10
Who is worse? Pouliot or Gudbranson?
Gavin Lee
6:11
I am not a fan of either.
The Gudbranson extension shocked me, given that there was interest in him at the time.
Chris
6:12
What will the Jets do at the deadline? And who?
Gavin Lee
6:12
They will absolutely be in on the Western Conference arms race that is boiling.
I'd imagine they'll try to add down the middle, meaning guys like Brassard, Hayes will be on the radar.
Mike
6:13
Oilers made big news this week, what’s there best 1st move right now?
Gavin Lee
6:13
Sending Yamamoto and Puljujarvi to the minor leagues for the rest of the season.
6:14
I would also not approve a single trade if I were Nicholson.
You have to wait until your next guy gets in there.

What’s the plan for the Pens? Seems like adding some grit would help for playoff run.
Gavin Lee
6:16
They've checked in on all the "grit" guys around who can play.
The talk about Garrett Wilson being that piece was lip service, I think. They'll add something.
Brian
6:17
Any update/rumors on Simmonds?
Gavin Lee
6:17
Speaking of "grit"...
6:18
I'd wager on Simmonds being dealt at this point, but I would lean to the west despite all the speculation about Toronto bringing him home.
Nothing new, they'll wait until closer to the deadline before taking the best offer

Do the Canucks have a realistic shot at landing Panarin in FA if he doesn’t re-up with CBJ? Haven’t heard much regarding his situation or where he prefers to go
Gavin Lee
6:19
There was some speculation about him submitting a list of preferred destinations, but that was shut down explicitly by his agent.
Despite that, most believe that if he hits free agency the Rangers will make a huge play for him.
Chicago too.
6:20
Panarin and his representatives are meeting this weekend during the All-Star break. We'll know more next week.
John Mozeliak
6:20
What do the Blues receive in a possible Pat Maroon trade?
Gavin Lee
6:21
Very little.
Remember that he got the Oilers just a third and low prospect last season.
And that was with 14 goals to his name.
6:22
He also has a full no-trade through the end of this month.
Rick
6:22
Why would the Oilers let Chiarelli sign a 30 year old backup-caliber goalie to that contract a day before they fired him?
Gavin Lee
6:22
The organization said publicly that they all believe in Koskinen.
6:23
That said, I have no idea why any organization would rush to get him under contract.
Brian
6:23
I’m sure the flyers would want to resign him but it would be foolish to ink him to a JVR type deal. Even in a “down year” he’s still on pace for 25 goals. What would you expect the return to be? We talking B prospects and a first?
