Hey folks, welcome to a playoff chat!
How about that opening night? What great stories.
6:04
Also, if anyone is tired of waiting, tune into the Frozen Four game between Providence and Duluth
It's a great match

Alright, how would you change the draft lottery? What do you think of the current system?
Gavin Lee
6:13
I don't think it's as broken as a lot of people believe.
6:14
I like the idea that tanking isn't rewarded in a huge way, though I do wonder if there should be a limit to who is actually involved. The idea of a team missing the playoffs by a single point, only to move up to first overall is a tough one to swallow
Though I don't think it really has the drastic implications that everyone thinks.
There are great players at #4.

Gavin! What do you think the Ducks do at pick #9?  Who's their target?  Who do you think is there for them?  I imagine they're pining for a Center?  Thanks!
Gavin Lee
6:15
Speaking of, the Ducks will get a great player at 9 too!
6:16
I don't think they'll be drafting for need necessarily, but there are going to be centers available to them in that spot.
Peyton Krebs, Kirby Dach, Trevor Zegras (though the latter might not make it as a center).
6:17
I doubt Turcotte makes it all the way down to them.

What are you expecting out of Carolina these playoffs?
Gavin Lee
6:18
I think they're going to come out flying, but that the Capitals experience will eventually take over.
Wouldn't be surprised if it goes six or seven games.
Just not sure if they have quite enough firepower just yet.

Who should be most concerned after opening night?
Gavin Lee
6:19
I actually think it might be the Golden Knights.
6:20
Erik Karlsson looked excellent last night, and we've seen him will a team deep in the playoffs almost by himself before
I know the Sharks struggled hard down the stretch, but that team is still extremely talented.
6:21
Otherwise the Jets have to somehow get past Binnington, who looked like he's still locked in.
It was a good sign that Laine was arguably their best forward last night though.

So who will coach LAK?
Gavin Lee
6:22
I'm not sure what to think about McLellan.
Buffalo has been used before as a negotiating tactic to get more money/term, and they very well could be that again here.
He was going to be there for the Frozen Four anyway, maybe they cooked up a plan to try and pry some extra dough out of LA.
6:23
If it's not him, I'm not sure where they turn.
6:24
One name I still think will pop up pretty soon is Mike Vellucci, who is currently with the Charlotte Checkers.
Maybe not for LA, but someone should snap him up.

Are you surprised at all that Coach Q ended up with the Panthers?
Gavin Lee
6:25
Not at all.
Tallon is there, and it's a pretty appealing option even if the fan support wanes.
6:26
Good young players, an owner who is committed to spending money, and the weather ain't bad either.

What are the chances Buffalo trades up to the top pick? They have 4 of the top 37 picks, so there has to be a plan to move up right?
Gavin Lee
6:33
Ray Shero actually did seem open to the idea of trading the pick at the lottery, though it would need a huge package to get it done.
Those kind of moves aren't common though and I'm not sure Buffalo would want to pay the price.
6:34
They have their two stars, and four picks in the top 37 will help surround them with talent.
