Hello and welcome to the last chat before free agent day!
Can't wait to see what you guys have for me today.
We'll get started in a few minutes.

I was surprised the Rangers couldn't move Chris Kreider. Do you think it happens after the UFA dust settles?
Gavin Lee
6:23
A Kreider deal not happening isn't because of lack of interest, but the whole league is a little stuck right now.
Not just the cap dropping from what was projected, but an entire class of RFAs sitting around is definitely making things more difficult.
6:24
I do think Kreider is traded before the season begins. Where and for what? It's not clear.

what's the latest on Colin Miller? saw some people say he got traded but nobody knows where
Gavin Lee
6:25
I think the internet kind of jumped to a conclusion from what McPhee said earlier today. Vegas has another deal done, or close to done, and many suspect it to be Miller for cap reasons.
6:26
I'm not entirely convinced that a Miller deal was what he was talking about, but we'll have to wait and see what happens over the next couple of days.

What do you see the Lightning doing?
Gavin Lee
6:27
I know everyone laughs at the idea that Joe Pavelski could go to Tampa, thinking they have huge cap issues.
But to be honest, they're not in as bad shape as several other teams.
If they felt Pavelski was a real difference maker (which, his past suggests he is) they could find the room.
The fact that they're checking into it makes me believe they won't be bystanders this summer.
6:28
Obviously, Point's contract is the big unknown
Ed
6:28
Who’s in worse cap shape as it stands today than the Lightning?
Gavin Lee
6:29
Vegas and Washington for sure.
Toronto depending on what happens with Marner

hello gavin any chance yzerman uses some cap space and picks up  a cap casualty?
Gavin Lee
6:30
I honestly think that may be a bigger strategy for him next summer, but it could happen.

Is Fletcher ruining what I built? Seems like these moves are ok at best. I like Hayes (maybe overpaid) but the rest....
Gavin Lee
6:31
I have not liked several of the moves, so..yes, I guess? It'll take a while to ruin that though, the Flyers have such a strong prospect group coming through and still several young stars on the team.

Will Philly trade Gostisbehere, and if so what does the return look like?
Gavin Lee
6:32
His name is definitely out there, but I'm not totally convinced it will happen.
Matt from philly
6:33
What do the flyers do at 3RW? do they get provy an tk signed prior to camp?
Gavin Lee
6:34
This is a place where they could upgrade if they do trade Gostisbehere, but boy does that not make a lot of sense to me when they just gave away Ryan Hartman who potentially could have filled that role. I still don't really understand what went on with him over the last few weeks.
Jim Rutherford
6:34
Am I trading Phil Kessel for real? Could the Avalanche be a trading partner and what would the return look like? Also, could they unload Hornqvist, Johnson, and Schultz (anywhere if so, where) to cut salary? Could be some tough sells there.
Gavin Lee
6:35
I'm not sure what will happen with Kessel anymore. I still think Rutherford would deal him if he can find a real hockey trade (as in not just for futures) but I'm not convinced he wants to play it out in public like the first go-round.
I don't see a fit with the Avalanche really. They're so focused on staying young.
EJ
6:36
Are the Canes done after picking up Haula or do you think they will go after more scoring?
Gavin Lee
6:36
More. But watch out, they're going to have some next year already. Remember they're getting a full year from Neiderreiter and Svechnikov will be even better.
Rob
6:36
Whats your view on a Lucic for Eriksson trade?
Gavin Lee
6:37
Zero sum game
Both are shadows.
Matt Duchene
6:37
Could anyone else (besides perhaps my hometown Habs) upset the Nashville apple cart for my services? Who else could sign me?
Gavin Lee
6:38
I'm pretty close to Chris Johnston on this one, I think it's the biggest lock of the offseason.
Nashville, that is.
Zac
6:38
Does an RFA sign an offer sheet this offseason?
Gavin Lee
6:38
I do not think so.
