Gavin Lee

Hey folks, welcome to another live chat!
This one unfortunately might be a little shorter than normal, so we'll get started pretty quickly!

Does Sam Steel make the Ducks out of camp?
Gavin Lee
6:21
I don't think Steel is ready yet personally, but there might be a real need down the middle if Kesler can't go.
6:22
He could also just blow everyone away with an outstanding camp, but I'm on the side of him starting in the AHL and proving he can produce at that level first

6:22
Do you think the Devils will be on the trade market for Pacioretty or Skinner?
Gavin Lee
6:23
I imagine Shero has checked in on both, but the Devils aren't rushing anything despite their success last season.
6:24
Both Skinner and Pacioretty would likely come with pretty high price tags even for one year, something the Devils probably would be loathe to give up right now
If either makes it to the trade deadline and the Devils are in the running? They'd be a strong fit

Why didn't Anaheim offer me what Pittsburgh did?
Gavin Lee
6:32
You'd have to think it's because of players like Steel that they don't want to block, but it is pretty surprising that Pittsburgh got him at league minimum.
Even as an extra forward that would have been a fine price to pay for the Ducks
6:33
Maybe they just were reserved to the fact that they couldn't win if he was one of their best center options, and are trying to get something else in place.
Derek Grant
6:33
I just thought I was a better choice than Carter Rowney...guess I'll go win a Cup now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Gavin Lee
6:34
You probably have other people agreeing with you on that fact..

Do you see Hinostroza as a top 6 winger on the Coyotes? Maybe playing alongside Galchenyuk if Gally plays center.
Gavin Lee
6:35
He could certainly get some time in the top-six, but I like Hinostroza as a limited minutes producer for them in Arizona.
If Galchenyuk plays center, which of Dvorak or Strome moves to the wing?
Don
6:36
What kind of deal do you think Larkin will get?
Gavin Lee
6:37
It's really tough to tell at this point, because going long term would force the Red Wings to move out some serious salary.
Even with Franzen that can be moved to LTIR, the team would be in a tricky spot.
Remember though that even at 21 he's just four seasons away from being a UFA
So it would have to either be fewer than 4, or 8.

how long can stan bowman keep his job while over paying on contracts then dumping those players with a good prospect in a lopsided losing trade ?  how long can they keep letting him cover up his mistakes ? dont you agree the hawks are holding on to the old core for too long ? need to go young.  disperse the old core to teams on the brink of winning. get somethig for their experience before its too late? agree ?
Gavin Lee
6:38
There has been a lot of discussion around Bowman's job in our comment sections lately, and I can't really argue that there have been moves that leave me scratching my head.
Breaking up the core is a tougher task than it may seem though
6:39
You can't just trade players that have no-movement clauses, and especially ones with huge contracts.
6:40
There are only a handful of teams who could afford to take on Seabrook's deal for instance, even fewer interested, and even fewer that he'd be likely to accept a trade to
There's no easy fix to that club, so he's trying to stay relevant and hope for a bounce back from some of his older core guys

Is the writing on the wall for a potential sell and relocation of the Coyotes to Houston with this 500 million evaluation and trying to sell 49% of the franchise?
Gavin Lee
6:41
I don't think it's imminent by any means. The NHL will do everything they can to keep the Coyotes in Arizona
If they win this year--and I don't mean the Cup, just have a good season--it would do a lot to help.

Are the kings going to only sign 1 free agent this off season? Not much of a change from a disappointing last season.
Gavin Lee
6:42
There's almost no talent left in free agency, so yes they'll probably only sign one impact free agent.
You can't just sign whoever you want. Those players have to agree to sign too.
Joe
6:43
Do you think carlonia resigns sebastian aho long term and how much.
Gavin Lee
6:44
They'll definitely sign him, but we'll have to wait and see how the new management operates.
Whether they go for a bridge deal or long term
He's an absolute favorite of the new owner, and is obviously their key forward building block
If I were his camp I'd be waiting to sign too.
