Gavin Lee
6:01
Hey folks, welcome to another live chat.
I'll let some stuff roll in and then get going in just a few minutes!
Back to back
6:09
Any chance the pens get max off the Canadians and what do you think it would take?
Gavin Lee
6:10
If I was to bet on one team to pull off a late-summer or training camp trade, it would be Jim Rutherford and the Penguins.
Max Pacioretty would be a good fit there.
Still, I'm not sure I see it happening.
6:11
I think that there is a good chance that Pacioretty actually starts the year in Montreal, if only to put behind whatever went on this summer and start playing hockey again. It would help the Canadiens get full value for him, especially if he can show he's still a top level goal scorer in the league.
6:12
If it did happen, the Canadiens would have to get either a good prospect and a mid round pick, or a middling prospect and a first round pick.
6:13
That Skinner trade doesn't set a good market, and if Pacioretty isn't being moved with an extension on the table it may have to wait until there is a bit more heat on teams.

Does Jakob Silfverberg get traded and if so what kind of return could he bring back?
Gavin Lee
6:14
That's an interesting one, because I've looked at Silfverberg as a potential trade piece if the Ducks don't get off to a good start for a while.
6:15
Locking up Henrique makes me think they're committed to competing in the short term, but if things are going south Silfverberg could be a nice little parachute to get some future assets.
6:16
What kind of return? Hard to say depending on when he's moved.
6:17
There's real value in a player who scored 20 goals every year and is responsible defensively, but if there are still other better offensive pieces on the market he wouldn't get the same return.
If it's getting close to the deadline though and there isn't a lot out there? You could see the Ducks really cash in.

With Panarin not ready to talk extension, have sights be moved to Bobrovsky? Any updates there?
Gavin Lee
6:19
None that I've seen surface publicly. I don't think sights have been moved, the Blue Jackets were very aware of Bobrovsky's situation regardless of what happened to Panarin.
6:20
They could keep both, but I would hate to be the one handing out a huge contract to a goaltender heading into his 30s.
6:21
Columbus is going to be an extremely interesting team to watch this season
6:22
I still think Ryan Murray could be moved t some point, and Panarin will basically hold everything up if he ever truly becomes available.

Heard one time that Buffalo had Casey Mittelstadt as a fourth line center? Would think they would like him to play with better wingers and more ice time
Gavin Lee
6:22
I would be shocked if three centers average more minutes than him this season.
They may shelter him at even strength though.

Any word Ryan Suter is getting closer to getting on the ice
Gavin Lee
6:23
The latest word from Suter himself was that he plans on being ready for training camp in a month.
6:24
He was back on the ice just testing things three weeks ago.

Any more moves for Flyers
Gavin Lee
6:25
There's almost nothing left in free agency
I'm not really sure they need a lot more in trade.
Unless there is a stud goaltender out there that can come in (no, not Carter Hart) I don't think they need to rush out and do anything.

6:26
Should the Avs wait on internal options to develop or go out and acquire someone to help get their second line more on par with the first line?
Gavin Lee
6:27
I actually thought they'd be more active in free agency this year, but Sakic keeps talking about getting younger and faster
There wasn't a ton of that available.
6:28
Jost should take a step forward this year, and I'm a big believer in Vladislav Kamenev. Perhaps one of them can really jump forward and take over that second line
Hey Gavin
6:29
Last year at the trade deadline is was rumored the Rangers had a deal to trade Lundquist where was he going and what was the return?
Gavin Lee
6:29
Don't know either of those things, other than it was a "good landing place"
6:30
Couldn't have been for a ton though. Goaltenders aren't that valuable at the deadline, and he still has a ton of money left.
Would've been as a favor to Lundqvist more than a trade for value.

6:31
Do you think will have a big fall off from 109 points and playoff run like last year
Gavin Lee
