Is that a question? Of course.

Is there room for Robert Thomas on the blues this year and what is his upside?
Gavin Lee
6:22
Upside is an excellent two-way first line center. But I don't think he gets that high.
6:23
I'm not as high on Thomas as many others, and don't think he makes the Blues with their added depth down the middle.
I just don't see how that would be better for his development than going back to dominate at junior and play in the World Junior tournament.

Any surprise teams make the playoffs this year
Gavin Lee
6:24
I am coming around to the idea that Arizona is going to make it.
6:25
I think a healthy Raanta and Chychrun, and another step from the young forwards could really make them a dangerous team.
6:26
I think Clayton Keller could end up in the top 10 in scoring.
Mike leafs
6:27
Rookie of the year sleepers?
Gavin Lee
6:29
Andreas Johnsson (TOR), Henrik Borgstrom (FLA), Filip Chytil (NYR), Alex Formenton (OTT)...
But they'll all have to make the teams..
And I still think Svechnikov is going to win it with ease.
6:30
And the other obvious ones, Mittelstadt, Dahlin, Zadina, Heiskanen...
Easier question to ask once camp is over.
Mike leafs
6:30
Yanni Gourde was a nice surprise last year. One year wonder or can he get better?
Gavin Lee
6:31
Don't think he'll get better, but he's a real player.
Wouldn't be surprised by another few 50+ point seasons.
6:32
He's a perfect fit for Tampa Bay though, it'll be tough to go elsewhere if they can't re-sign him.
If I were him I'd sign cheap and long term if I could.

Always liked couturier and very happy he got his chance to prove his offensive ability. Who do you see as a similar type of player that can bust out gown a chance?
Gavin Lee
6:35
Hmm, tough question. I imagine you mean break out kind of later in their career.
6:36
You know who I've always thought has a lot more offensive talent than he's shown? Adam Lowry in Winnipeg.
If I was an NHL GM I would have been banging down the door trying to get him on my team.
6:37
I realize that anyone compared to Couturier is silly at this point.
6:38
But I think Lowry could easily be a bigger piece on a different team.

Name a captain from this list of legends  in there prime(note goalies can be captain): Gretzky, B.Hull, Jagr, Luongo, CuJo, Chara, yzerman, and Grant Fuhr.
Gavin Lee
6:38
As in, all these players are on my team and I need to name one captain?
6:39
It has to be Gretzky, but if he wasn't there it's Yzerman easy.

The chances that Fox signs a pro contract with the Canes?
Gavin Lee
6:40
I don't think it's a guarantee at all, given that the Flames couldn't convince him. But they have a while to work on him.
Some success this season would help I'm sure.
The Harvard factor is real though as well, players like finishing their tenure there instead of leaving early (why wouldn't you?)
6:41
And as soon as you get to that point, it's just a couple of months for the player to wait.
GSchmidt
6:42
Does Jordan Schmaltz get a chance with STL this year, or do you only see him as an injury replacement?
Gavin Lee
6:42
Well he has to sign a contract before anything happens, but boy is that right side tough to crack.
That said, I'm not sure being an injury replacement is that bad, given the group that's ahead of him.
6:43
He could easily get an extended look.

How surprised were you by the Barrett Hayton pick? Do you believe all the whispers that several other teams had him rated highly? We sure were dreaming of a line with Zadina playing the sniper role next to Keller. Realistic timetable for Hayton?
Gavin Lee
6:43
I think he's two years away at least, but I also didn't have him rated as the fifth best prospect in the draft.
