There are plenty of models out there that tackle this, but having seen the NHL deal with this stuff before I think we'll all have to just wait and see.
For all I know they'll put Detroit back in the West.

To be realistic, yes he definitely does
He's the obvious option to start for them until Allen is back. But should he? No.

They unfortunately can't send him to the AHL given his age. He'll have to go back to junior.

You mentioned Tuch playing on that second line w Pacioretty & Stastny. Have to think they could make a pretty great combo over the next few years since Tuch is only 22 and flashed some serious potential

I agree, that could be a pretty deadly unit if Tuch can finish a bit more and Stastny/Pacioretty haven't lost a step.

The thing about Tuch's game is he often beats one defender clean and can get the puck to teammates in unexpected situations. He's not a classic playmaker, but with a savvy veteran like Stastny and a pure goal scorer like Pacioretty there could be some real chemistry.

Hard to predict left-field entries, but there are definitely some guys who could surprise.

I actually think Ottawa is now ripe for big performances from someone like Alex Formenton.
If he can crack the squad, why not give him huge powerplay time?

If you were Doug Armstrong would you go back and not sign Johnson, and sign someone like Steve mason, Lehner,Mrazek, or just a better backup goalie?

I don't have much faith in Mrazek, and Lehner is a home run cut that wouldn't be a good fit as a backup.
But Mason or one of the available backups would have been a better option in my opinion.

He certainly could, though I probably wouldn't bet on it.

He's not the primary weapon on the powerplay anymore, which drove his big totals.
Not to say he won't still be effective, it's just hard to crack 20 as a defenseman.

Dorion said he wanted quality over quantity in any trade. Do we have to give him credit that he never used the word "good" when he mentioned quality. Also does this basically guarantee one of Duchene or stone is gone. Nothing they brought back will help in a rebuild for at least 3 to 4 years.

So, I don't think it guarantees anything when it comes to the Senators, but if I were them I would definitely be moving on from both.

It's going to hurt giving up their pick this year, but next year there is another superstar forward coming through and always more after that.
Signing Duchene or Stone to a long term deal now doesn't really make much sense.
