I don't think it's likely, but with his injury history, I think it's possible he doesn't find a deal to his liking and settles for a one-year contract, hoping to stay healthy.
But he's also about to turn 32, so, maybe he just takes the best deal he can get now, instead of waiting until he's almost 33.

He spent most of this year at Double-A and even got some Triple-A starts in September. I think he'll be in play all season.
But it might be like Roansy in 2022, who was optioned a few times. Depends on performance, of course.

The O's traded Jorge Lopez for similar reasons when he had 2.5 years of control and they were kinda in contention.

Bednar still has four years of control left, so, they could also just keep him if they think he can sustain his performance. But I wouldn't be surprised if they strike while the iron is hot at some point.

Since you already compares Cruz & Judge; other than size, how similar are they? Can Cruz be a 40+ HR guy?

He hit 17 in barely over half a season. That's a pace of 30+ as a 23-year-old. I don't think it's outlandish to think he could get to 40 after he continues to adjust to big league pitching.

Luis Ortiz seemingly came out of no where this real and at least in limited time in the big leagues looked like a potential long term rotation piece. Agree? Where do you peg him moving forward ?

I think it's certainly possible. Numbers in the minors were really strong.
His walks were high in the majors, but that's in a tiny sample of just four starts.

He'll be a very interesting arm to watch next year. Still young too, turning 24 in January.

Do you think Will the Pirates keep Bryan Reynolds?

I have to wrap up in a minute. But about half the questions were about Bryan Reynolds, so I thought it would be best to save him until the end.

He's got three years of club control remaining at this point. The first of those years isn't likely to be competitive. Even the second is sort of a hope and a dream right now.
I think his potential trade will depend on a couple of things. The first is if they extend him. Then, obviously, a trade becomes much less likely.

The second would be if they have a really strong first half next year, sort of like Baltimore in 2022. With the O's, the Cedric Mullins rumors basically went away once they got kinda good.
The same could happen for Reynolds and the Bucs next year. But that's still a big if.

Six months from now, if they're still not great, he's 2.5 years from free agency. I have to imagine their desire for a trade increases at that point.
That's just speculation on my part though.
