Good question. Tomlin was asked today how much the offense needs Conner and JuJu back healthy. His response: "A lot."

If the Ravens have the number 1 seed as of week 17 do you think they rest their starters?
Steelers insider
2:29
I think Harbaugh would most certainly rest Lamar Jackson. Why expose your QB to unnecessary hits in a meaningless game? If he played in that game and T.J. Watt or Bud Dupree put a helmet on Jackson's knee and ended his season, Harbaugh wold be fired for negligence. I think he'd rest some other vets too. The Steelers have done it. Other teams do it. There is certainly something to be said for getting rusty with two weeks off, but most coaches come to the conclusion that it's a better alternative than an injury to a star.

About the patriots getting caught filming again. I read a report where the crew filming asked if they could just erase the tape and forget the whole thing ever happened.  What does that tell you about the incident?

Red flag!

Staff Writer, Are you fresh off of MT presser?  What's the news with 30 & 19?
Steelers insider

They will practice this week, maybe even tomorrow. As always, they'll have to prove to Tomlin that they're ready to return.

I think this week is a bad match up for us. I don't see how we generate enough points to win. Our D will be fine but we are good to let up 14-17 points. I don't see our offense putting up more than that. I am usually very optimistic but this week i'm a bit nervous. Thoughts?

2:32
Every game the Steelers play will be close and low-scoring. That's how they're playing. This one could go either way. Buffalo has a really good defense too. I give the Bills the edge at QB because Josh Allen is in Year 2 and can make some plays with his feet. But they're not loaded at the skill positions either. Should be a really tight game.

Is there any chance of 7 or 91 returning, or are they definitely out for 2019?
Steelers insider
2:32
Both on season-ending IR.

I know this is a Steeler chat, but what do you think of The Pats and Spygate 2?  Thank you.
Steelers insider

If they're found to be cheating again, Goodell has to do something drastic.

Ed Reed made the NFL's 100 year team, Polamalu did not. As great as Reed was, I would take Troy every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Is this just my bias or does truly Reed belong ahead of Troy on NFL history?
Steelers insider
2:36
Both great players. Reed had more turnovers and highlight reel returns. He was more of a true ball-hawking free safety. Troy played a different way. No one ever played safety the way Troy did. He didn't always put up the stats, but he affected the game i so many different ways. And from what I recall, Troy made more plays in games against the Ravens than Reed ever did against the Steelers.

You former colleague Ed said our trade for Minka was dumb since we could have drafted a QB early in the draft.  Now that we aren’t drafting high and Minka has been fantastic, is he changing his tune?
Steelers insider
2:36
I don't know. You'd have to ask Ed.
Ryan
2:37
Thank you, Ray!  The running game appears to be the same, if not better, with Conner out.  Snell's emergence has been a pleasant surprise.  Does Ju-Ju return against the Bills and do see you see this offense, with Hodges, being a playoff caliber offense?
Steelers insider
2:38
Both would be welcomed back. I think they could use JuJu more just because so many other backs have stepped to the forefront in Conner's absence. I'm not devaluing Conner, but the production has been there from the RB position.

The fake punt while painfully dumb must also fall on Danny Smith correct? Don’t his players need to be taught to make sure Berry knows when its called off?
Steelers insider
2:40
Yes it always falls back on the coach when the players make the mistakes. That's why they get the big paychecks. I made this point after the game, but I think it's worth making again. Jordan Berry grew up in Australia. He played rugby and Aussie rules football growing up. He didn't play American football until he attended Eastern Kentucky University. So he's still learning the game. Most American-born players would be in better tune with game situations. So for that reason, yes, Smith or Tomlin should have told him in no uncertain terms that the fake was off even before he set foot on the field.

How can Steelers defense counter offensives going no huddle or speeding pace of play?
Steelers insider
2:41
Good question. The Cardinals hurt the Steelers when they played with pace. I think the answer is limiting success on first and second downs. No OC wants to go with pace when it's second-and-8 or third-and-7. But it's very effective when the offrense ie getting chunk plays. That's certainly something they have to work on this week.

Can you remind Mike Tomlin that Jordan Berry is not a football player but just a kicker. Might’ve been the most embarrassing fake punt ever! Stick to kicking Jordan

Do you think when Ju Ju is back that Tevin Jones will be the odd man out? I like what he has brought to the table but Cain seems to have more upside.
Steelers insider
2:43
Maybe, but they could dress Jones too because I think he plays on a few special teams if I'm not mistaken.

Many within the national media think the Steelers top priorities in 2020 draft should be WR and RB.  I feel OL, DL and TE are higher priorities (and OLB if Bud isn't franchise tagged).  What say you?  Thanks!
Steelers insider
2:45
They don't have a first-round pick so they'll be drafting the best player available at all of those positions with every pick.

Lots of talk about Tomlin for C-O-Y, how about Colbert for Executive of the Year? He seems to have "won" the AB trade and the Minkah trade, and moving up for Bush appears to be a good one too.
Steelers insider
2:47
I agree. He's done a great job building this team
Buffalo Bob insider

I think Steelers will need a speedy LB Bush to have a good game to contend with dynamic RB single tray and mobile QB Josh Allen. What say you Steeler insider?
Steelers insider
2:48
Josh Allen is probably more like Lamar Jackson than Kyler Murray in that the Bills design more runs for him. He's not as fast or quick as Jackson, but he's really effective as a runner.

If James Connor comes back this week, should he getting the majority of the touches or should they continue to ride Snell?
Steelers insider
2:50
I think they have a good thing going with the RB by committee approach. Obviously, Conner has a track record and does a lot of things well. I'd certainly use him on third downs, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to insert him as a full-time starter again.

Assuming Ben returns to full health (whatever that is at 38),  will there be a return to 40 passes a game, or do you think the brainpower has learned something from this year?
