Nihar, you can do that, but advisors are assigned after admission, usually over the summer.

First, please understand that this is their busiest time of the year. Second, it helps to do research and be able to tell them specifically what it is about their research/published works that interests you so much and what you would plan to do if you were admitted and able to work with them.
