Kushan, we recommend no more than 2-3 pages.

I wish to obtain a letter of recommendation from a post-doc I worked under. Will that in any way not be looked favourably upon?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:25
Kushan, this should be fine if they can speak to your ability to succeed in the classroom, work successfully in groups/group projects, synthesize concepts/ideas and/or coursework into real-world application/implementation.
Ryan

Thank you! In terms of number of admission for MCIT program, is the number on the website the combined number of admission for both online and on-campus options?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:25
Ryan, no, this is for the on-campus program. The online program usually admits around 200 students per semester.

Could you share some statistics related to job offers for MSE/CIS students?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

Kushan, you can find that information here for 2018 grads: https://cdn.uconnectlabs.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/74/2019/08/2018_...

I have graduated and received my bachelor's degree. Is it necessary for me to upload my degree credential for application?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:31
Xinyi, if the degree award is not specifically mentioned on the transcript, then yes, we would need that as well.
Ryan
10:30
As far as the number of student admission, which cycle would you say is more competitive for the MCIT program, the early decision (Nov 15th deadline) or the regular one?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:31
The regular one is more competitive, because we have more applicants.
Kushan
10:31
If not accepted in the early deadline admissions, can there be any consideration for the regular deadline?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:31
Kushan, no, you may only apply once for each program per application cycle. The early/regular deadlines are both part of the same application cycle.

10:32
Hi will, the deadline is Nov 15, is that means UPenn need to receive everything on that day? I will take my gre test on Nov 12, can I send my score later?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:34
Linghao, that deadline is for the early decision deadline, for 6 of our programs. If you take the GRE test on Nov 12, you should receive the "unofficial scores," that day or the next, so you can still include those on the application. We don't need the official scores to begin the application review process, but you will need to have them sent to UPenn so that we get them as soon as possible.
Kushan
10:34
Does UPenn recommend any templates or format for the Resume?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:34
Nope - this is up to the applicant. We just need to make sure it is legible and easy to understand.
Rashi
10:34
Hi Will ! I am taking my GRE on 7th November and the application deadline is on the 15th November, will the university still consider those scores ?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:35
Rashi, you can still report the unofficial scores that you'll get when you take the exam. As long as we have these, we can begin the review of your application.

I was wondering how MCIT students prepare themselves for summer internships after they enroll in the program. Would they start to recruit in fall semester when they don't know much about programming, or how does the timing work for them if they want to get an internship over the summer? Would the program offer any help on career related affairs in this case? Thanks!
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:36
Ryan, it's really a combination of starting in the fall, as we have some career/internship fairs in September, as well as working on connections, including with career services, throughout the year.

Where could I upload my degree credential?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:37
Xinyi, we recommend you combine it with the file that has your unofficial transcript, so you can upload them both at the same time.
Linghao Yang
10:35
Hi  will, what about the recommendation letter?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:37
We need to receive all of those by Nov 15, along with everything else, for your application to be considered.
Kushan

Thank you for your help, Will!

10:37
if I send the link to my professors before Nov.15, is that ok? Or should they finish everything on Nov 15?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:38
We recommend you send the link as early as possible, to give your recommenders time to submit the letters. You can send them the link by clicking on it on the Letter of Recommendation section, without submitting your application.
Ryan

Got it. Thank you for your time, Will. It's really helpful!

Thanks Will! One more question, if I also want to apply a LPS program, should I create a new account and start a new application?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:43
Linghao, you do not need to create a new account, but you will need to start a new application. However, if you cannot complete your current application, but still want to start the LPS application, you would need to create a new account.

One of my institutions only provides electronic transcripts (Higher Education Achievement Report) for graduates, but this transcript can only be shared by email to third parties. My institution has sent my electronic transcripts to the corresponding administrator. Then could I just upload my degree credential of this institution where the unofficial transcript should be upload in the application form? Moreover, the electronic transcript may require my personal information to access. Should I provide this information to the administrator right now?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:48
Xinyi, yes, you can do that. You would want to send an email to admissions2@seas.upenn.edu, or have it sent to this email address. However, please do not have it sent, nor should you send an email, until you have submitted the application.
