If we lose to the NFC West teams on the road next year(49ers and Cards), I'm done with Tomlin.  Every year don't you worry about the bad teams more than the good ones?
Ray Fittipaldo

Jimmy Garopolo will be back next season. The 49ers will be much better with him. I'm not saying a Super Bowl contender, but he's a good QB.

What's your sense about Faneca making HoF? The homer in me thinks Hines should make it and Troy (when eligible) but I'm wondering if we'll go 0-for3.

Hines Ward did not make the cut from the final 15 to the final 10. The only one who is eligible next year is Faneca. The problem is three other offensive linemen are also eligible. There is a logjam so not all of them will get in. Polamalu becomes eligible next year.

What’s going on with the AB situation. Is this for real?? Or a lot of national media hype?? We up in Canada don’t get much info or at least we don’t get the real vibe. I’m think a lot of hype. Great for news. I think this will blow over.

I'm not so sure the Steelers should allow a player who quit on his teammates to "blow over."

How will the line be next year?  Should we move on from Foster?  Looks like Gilbert is gone.  Should we draft a guy to fill in or do we have everyone we need on the roster?

Foster turns 33 today. Finney is 27 and has proven he is more than capable of being a full-time starter. Is he the next David DeCastro? No. But he can be the next Foster. So I don't see any way Foster returns. Gilbert is a good player, but he's struggled with injuries the past two years. He's only played in 12 of a possible 32 games the past two seasons. And they can save $5 million by releasing him. Matt Feiler was solid in his place, and Chuks Okorafor might be ready to challenge for a starting job too.

Maybe without Brown Roethlisberger will be a better QB, not trying to force him the ball and getting as many INTs.

You might be onto something.

Is the biggest flaw in the Steelers' defense at this point scheme or personnel? Is it time for a new DC with a new scheme or can Butler improve the Defense with the better personal brought in during the off-season ( CB Patrick Peterson and stud LB from Draft)?  Personally, I think it's time for a new scheme even with the new personnel - What say you Ray?

It's both. It's obvious they don't have talent at ILB or at very many places in the secondary. But other teams are winning with equal talent. Coaches coach. They know what their personnel is going to be in most cases by June. They have to come up with ways to maximize the talent however mediocre it might be.

Hi Ray, what do you think about the Steelers focusing on getting 1st rounder(s) in the 2020 draft for Brown?  They may be able to get more value in a draft that has a few special QBs.  By playing the long game, they might sacrifice 2019 to an extent in order to obtain a franchise QB for the next 10-15 years.  Seems worth it to me.

You're betting on way too much there. There is no way of knowing who is going to have a top pick in 2020. The Raiders thought they were going to get a high pick from the Bears in the Khalil Mack trade. But that pick is now No. 25.

Why the insistence by the front office to give Ben an extension?  If they were thinking 3 year extension why waste picks on Dobbs/Rudolph?  Low income high production QB's is the way to build a team and has been since the CBA ratified rookie salary caps.  He led the league in the most negative statistic and some reason everyone thinks he had an "mvp season"?!???  Does Colbert not know how to manage salary cap w/o redoing Big Ben contracts?!??

The idea is to compete for Super Bowls. As long as Roethlisberger is here they'll have that chance. Does he have to play and lead better? Yes. He can't lead the league in interceptions. But I'm not turning this team over to Josh Dobbs or Mason Rudolph. I'm keeping Roethlisberger as long as he is healthy. He can still play at a high level.

Would Steelers consider going for Suggs? Great pair with TJ

Too old. They need to find a younger OLB in the draft or free agency. By the way, I wish they would have given Ola Adeniyi  more of a shot late in the season. I'm still high on him.

I think people forget how bad the Steelers looked offensively against the Raiders (1st half with Ben) and need to stop pointing to what we looked like without AB against Cincy. This team can thrive without AB as long as we have a franchise QB. Agree?
Ray Fittipaldo

I agree.

Ray as for as you know has the league addressed their missed calls in the Chargers game?
Ray Fittipaldo

Not as far as I know.

Would Kevin green be an ideal replacement for Joey Porter
Ray Fittipaldo
1:08
Greene would be a candidate. I'd take a look at Lou Spanos. He's a former Steelers assistant who is on Alabama's staff now. He has recent experience as a college defensive coordinator so he knows how to deal with the talent the college game is producing. There are other good candidates out there.
OK thanks for all the questions this week. My time is up. We'll do it again next Monday.
