That's good. Are they done talking about my report card?
Wil

BTW, Cook said no in JuJu, Pomp said never say never, and Starkey said absolutely.
Ray Fittipaldo

I think that ship has sailed.

Any idea why the Steelers didn't throw more to Pickens, he has the talent and abilities of JJ in Minnesota, yest the keep throwing to run backwards Johnson
Ray Fittipaldo
12:58
Pickens had over 800 yards and led all WRs with four touchdowns. Should they have thrown to him more? In hindsight, yes. But those are pretty good numbers for a rookie.

I saw Chuks and Moore were 2 of the worst OT in the league this year. You think we’ll have to new Tackles next year??
Ray Fittipaldo
12:58
Probably one. I don't think it's good business to change two especially when the line was playing much better in the second half of the season. You want to keep that continuity.

How did Loudermilk grade out for the season?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:59
He barely played.

I know an underlying goal is to shorten games and not elongate them but something must be done about roughing the passer and spot foul penalties like pass interference.  These calls are game changers.  Will NFL look at this?  What can be done?

The competition committee can step up and suggest changes. But most of those guys are coaches and GMs who either have franchise QBs or are hoping to get one. They have these rules in place to protect QBs, but at some point it's going to be flag football with the QBs. And who wants to watch that?

Did you notice?  Zero interceptions & zero forced fumbles from the Steelers two starting inside LBs & strong Safety this season.  Gotta have some splash!
Ray Fittipaldo

But the Steelers did lead the league in INTs. Obviously most of them from the corners.
And Fitzpatrick.

Hi R! Do you think Paris Johnson Jr. is worth trading up for or might he slip to 17 for us to pick up?
Ray Fittipaldo

I'm going to start looking at the draft prospects in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned. I'll be in Mobile for a week at the end of the month reporting on the draft.

Hey Ray.  So what's easier to do....draft or pay for OL or draft or pay for DL?  If I'm in charge I pay for whatever is great and available as FAs and draft the rest.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:03
Honestly depends on this year's draft class. The tackle from PSU has already said he's going back to school.

Hey Ray, I hope Tomlin replaces Canada even though they went 7-2 down the stretch.  That 7-2 was against crappy teams, the 2-6 was against real competition...thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:04
That's the tricky part of the evaluation, and that's why Tomlin is well-compensated. To make those calls.

Hi Ray, first time chatter here.  No questions, just want to thank you for these chats.  I have learned a lot from you and hope you continue to do these chats.
Ray Fittipaldo

Thanks Steve. I'll be doing them most every week.

If you can get pick 33 for weak hands/poor technique Claypool, should be able to find a dance partner for Johnson, no?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:05
Claypool is on a rookie deal. Johnson is due $15 million in salary over the next two years. It's not that easy.

I like Kazee... Can they keep both he and Edmunds?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:06
They both played on cheap deals in 2022 so depends on the market. Kazee was injured for much of the year and Edmunds did not get much interest last year. So it's doable.

How would you grade the season overall? Should we as fans be optimistic given the 7-2 run to end the season even though only one of those wins came against a team with a winning record?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:07
I'd be optimistic especially with 3 picks in the top 50 in May. They have a chance, along with free agency, to plug a few holes. If they do that they're ready to compete in the playoffs if their stars stay healthy.
1:08
OK thanks for the questions this week. We'll do it again next week.
