Karma yesterday for NO!? Also, did you hear Cam Jordan’s interview after the game?! What a clown....
Ray Fittipaldo
12:49
Yeah I saw that. The Saints are an easy team to root against. For me, it started years ago when Sean Payton treated Jimmy Graham the way he did when he was trying to get paid as a WR instead of a TE. I never understood how a player on that team would want to play for a guy like that after that whole episode. Drew Brees is the only likeable player on that team. I feel bad for him but no one else.

What are the chances the NFL OT rules get changed? One could argue that had KC won the coin toss yesterday - they would have marched down the field and scored. Why not just play another 15 minute quarter?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:50
The NHL has sudden death and it's the most exciting thing in the playoffs. Why couldn't the Chiefs play a little defense?

12:50
Ray, have you heard any rumors relative to any team desiring to acquire AB?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:51
I think trade talks will heat up this week in Mobile at the Senior Bowl. And then again next month at the combine.

you knew the refs would eventually influence a championship in a bad way. Isn't it time to overhaul the entire officiating apparatus?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:52
I'd start by making officials full time and committing to training them. Now they all have jobs during the week and fly to their games on weekends. That's so silly. Treat them like full-time employees and hold them accountable. That's what they need to do.

Ray, all plays being "reviewable" does not mean every play gets reviewed! Coaches would still get 3 challenges per game and if wrong would cost team a TO, just like now, except plays like last night's missed PI would be reviewable. Would not cause increase in time games.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:53
What happens after the two-minute warning? Everything gets reviewed then?

if the Steelers end up with 2 first round picks, do you think they'd take a WR with one of those picks if there's someone there that grades out as a 1st round talent or do you think they'd go ILB and corner?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:54
If they get a first-round pick for Brown I think they'd use one of their first three picks on a WR. In other words they'd get one by round 2.
Mike Roberts
12:54
In the NHL- they drop the puck and it is completely equal- no team has an opportunity advantage- to think the coin flip does not influence the outcome of OT games is ridiculous
Ray Fittipaldo
12:54
Giving up three first downs when you have the opponent at third-and-10 is ridiculous too.

Burnett have any trade value at all?  Anything to avoid any kind of CAP hit, 7th rounder maybe?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:56
That's not a bad idea. Maybe a safety-needy team is willing to take on his contract. The only problem is he's on the books for more than $6 million next season. That's not cheap for an injury-prone player that doesn't seem to like football all that much.

Steelers fan in Boston.  Watching the Pats reminds me of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; "who are these guys?"  How can NE win with no names and the Steelers with all the talent no even make the playoffs?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:57
They have superior coaching and a B by the name of Tom Brady. That's how.

I count four players who have, essentially, "quit the team" in recent years: Blount, Harrison, Bell, Brown. And now Burnett is asking to go. Honestly, is this just a string of coincidences? Or something more?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:59
I wouldn't put Bell in that group. He made a business decision. Now you can question his intelligence for sitting out an entire season in his prime and giving up $14.5 million. You can also question him not communicating with teammates or the front office. But I wouldn't group him with the others.

Thirty-six days ago, the Steelers beat the Patriots.

And they'll be watching the Patriots play in the Super Bowl. Again.

Do you think Steelers might take Pitt RB Hall on 3rd day of draft. I think he could give us some depth at RB and maybe kickoff returns.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:01
I'd like to see them draft a back in the mold of Alvin Kamara. Someone who has a bit more speed than Conner and Samuels.

Steeler most likely to line up offsides on a play that otherwise clinches the AFC Championship?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:02
You know the answer to that. I don't even have to type his name.

Is it just crazy to think that 36-year-old Larry Fitzgerald might be a nice stopgap--and a strong statement--to replace AB for a year or two?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:04
I think the Steelers need a deep threat if Antonio Brown is traded. JuJu has been a big-play guy, but he's not a burner. Neither is James Washington. How about John Brown? He signed for one year and $5 million to play for the Ravens last year. I'd sign him for the same amount if Brown is traded. Then you draft a guy to develop and maybe he's ready to play late in the year as a rookie. Then you keep either Switzer or Rogers.

Would the Steelers draft AB cousin WR Marquis Brown?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:04
I would not. I'd be too worried he'd be influenced by his cousin.

I heard a comment, last night, after the NO/LAR game, where the person stated that Sean Peyton is on the rules committee and he was going to bring up a rule to challenge all plays during the winter meetings. Your thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:05
Where's he been all these years? Honestly, this isn't the first time a call like that influenced the outcome of a playoff game.

Do you think Boswell is our kicker next year?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:06
My gut tells me no.

Did you see those teams yesterday adjust to the game conditions? Rivers said that Tomlin never adjusts. If he knew that then every team knows that. Another example of ineptitude by Tomlin?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:07
Tomlin didn't adjust in the Chargers game because Morgan Burnett and Cam Sutton were not available. They did not have personnel to match up with them. You can criticize the team for not having more/better personnel to play in the game, but that's why he didn't adjust in that game.

So what's the deal with Heyward Bey?  Supposedly he's the fastest player on the team (or one of the fastest).   Why isn't he out there in the mix for the WR corps as a deep threat?  Is it his hands?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:08
DHB's contract is up and he's unlikely to be re-signed. They kept him on the roster because of his abilities on special teams the past few years not his abilities as a WR.

Where was the national outcry when the refs cost the Steelers 2 games that would have put us in the playoffs?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:08
That's what I've been saying.
