Always good to get outside opinions on your organization. And it's always good to interview as many candidates as possible.

Any chance one of the quarterbacks that they coveted like Howell will last until their second round pick? I know they really love that center out of Iowa for their first round pick.

I'm not a Howell guy, even in the second round. He's small. Linderbaum is good. And 20 is the range where the first center usually comes off the board, too. They'd just have to commit to moving Green to guard if that happened.

Personally I think the Steelers should go defensive line offensive line and inside linebacker with their first three picks as the quarterbacks that are in the draft are not worthy of a first or a second round pick. Do you lean that direction?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:57
Definitely on board with OL and DL in the first few rounds.

When do we find out which compensatory picks the Steelers will get?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:57
Last year they were announced March 10 so I think around the same time, give a day or two.

Ray if Tuitt retires, do we replenish thought the draft or free agency or both? It sure would be nice to have a NT that can take on double teams.
Ray Fittipaldo

I'd lean toward draft at DL. Need to get younger.

Would you cut Banner and Schobert?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:59
It's not a matter of wanting to cut either, but if you weigh performance versus salary it's a no-brainer to cut both. Or bring them back on lower deals.

I read in a lot of places that the Steelers are high on Howell. Have you formed an opinion on him yet? He looks and plays a lot like Mayfield and that should scare everyone.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:59
I'm not a fan.

Vander Esch is an UFA and the knock on him is health, but he did play all 17 games last season. Would you sign him?
Ray Fittipaldo

For the right price.

The extra year in the contract for first rounders lends us to picking a QB in round 1 this year correct?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:00
If you're convinced the guy is going to be good and worth signing to a second contract, yes. But it's not a good move if he's not.

Would any team trade a 6fh or a 7th for Tuitt ?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:01
Sure, but we don't even know if he wants to continue playing football.

  1. Trevor Penning, LT 2. Zion Johnson, G 3. Travis Jones NT. I heard they all had good reviews at Senior Bowl. Thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo

Good picks, Weegie. Not sold on Johnson, but he might be good value at No. 52. He seemed a little small to me and struggled in pass protection in the practices I watched. But I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because he moved to center for much of the week, and he never played center before.

Rumor that Villanueva could be cut.  Any interest if you’re Tomlin/Colbert?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:03
Nah.
Lee

Roethlisberger's QB rating for XL was 22.6!!!
Ray Fittipaldo
3:03
I know that. What was his rating against the Colts and Broncos?

NT Davis at 20 if he is there would be awfully tempting. Even if he only played a third of the snaps. i know its a lot to give up but dominating in the trenches could help this D so much?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:05
He would definitely fill a need. Just know Colbert has said players like Davis would have to play much more than in the base defense.

Ray I would like to know what Lee is smoking.  BR went 14-0 inn his rookie year and played excellent in the playoffs.

Amazing that people need reminded of this.
OK that's it for this week. I'll take your questions again next week at the same time.
