Lot of intriguing prospects at positions of great need (cb lb wr) who intrigues you the most. Regardless of draft position because nobody knows yet
Ray Fittipaldo

Devin White and Devin Bush are exactly what the Steelers need at ILB. I'm not as sold on the CBs at 20 especially with the workouts today. I think the value might be at ILB, but now you have to hope one of them is there.

Hi Ray any chance that the steelers wait till past the March 17 deadline to trade Ab to get the best deal possible.?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:42
Kevin Colbert did not rule that out. I don't think that's their preference, but he said it's not an obstacle.

Could the Steelers surprise everyone and draft a TE in the 1st round?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:43
I'd be surprised unless they REALLY REALLY fell in love with one and believed he could take their offensive to the next level.

First, LeGarette Blount walks out an quits, then James Harrison supposedly "quits", then Leveon "quits" by sitting out a year, and then AB quits at the end of the season.  Pro Athletes do not "quit" by nature.  I would love to know what culture exists that causes so many players, and good ones at that, to quit.

Good question. I posed a similar one to Kevin Colbert at the combine. I asked him about Bell, Brown and Morgan Burnett all doing that in some form or fashion. He admitted it is unusual for his team to be having those types of problems. But he thinks it's isolated circumstances. He also does not believe the way the Steelers structure contracts is a problem. He told me he believes the team is more than fair in the way they structure their contracts and pay out money.

Which of the potential 2nd rounders at WR do you think fits the Steelers the best?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:47
Well, there are plenty to choose from. I had Deebo Samuels mocked to them at No. 52 in my first mock draft. I think he'd be a good fit. Hakeem Butler might have solidified himself as a second-round pick with his combine performance. He'd be intriguing. Kelvin Harmon of NC State met with the Steelers. I think Randy Fichtner can make it work with any of these guys, but I'd be intrigued by a big receiver that can stretch the field and be a red-zone threat. I think that's what they need.

Ray, based on what Peter King reported last night that the Steelers will get a 1st rounder for AB, do you think that gives us leverage to move up and get a guy like Devin White? If we can get White and a guy like Deandre Baker with our second 1st rounder, that would solidify our D and then we can concentrate on WR. Thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:48
Yes I mentioned that earlier. That second first-round pick could be used to move up in the draft for that impact player this defense so desperately needs.

Ray, think its time to start re-tooling the offensive line?  one or two injuries, can derail the season
Ray Fittipaldo
12:49
I still think they're in pretty good shape on the offensive line. Might have to replenish the depth in the draft, but that's about it for this year. The unit is aging though. That time is coming sooner rather than later.

Regarding RB, I understand why you say it's not a big need. However, they have Conner (who has been injuried annually) and Samuels (who has little experience as a pure running back). They need something more than just a body. They need someone who they can win a playoff game with if necessary. We just saw last year how poorly things go when you are down to a guy like Ridley.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:50
I agree with you on the need to replace Ridley with someone who is more valuable. I just think they can get a guy like that late in the draft or even as a priority free agent.

Does Artie Burns have any trade value?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:51
I wouldn't think very much at this point.
James
12:51
Given the nature of the today's game and the fact that the CB and WR class is lacking 1st round quality players, if the Steelers end up with 2 1st round picks, could you envision any possible way that they would pick both of the Devins?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:52
That would never happen, but they would instantly have the fastest ILB tandem in the league.
We can dream though. Ha ha.

It appears that AB is scheming to force the Steelers to release him, thus allowing him to negotiate a deal as a FA.  Am I safe to assume that this strategy will not work for him as the Steelers could ultimately trade him to an undesirable team location for a lower level draft pick?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:53
The Steelers will never release Brown and let him choose where he wants to play.

Do you see any scenario that keeps AB a Steeler?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:53
Not the moment, no.

12:54
Hi ray do you think Tomlin will get his extension soon?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:54
No and maybe not at all this year. They do that in the summer so we'll find out for sure then.

12:55
What are the Steelers going to do with Burnett?  Keep him, release him or try to trade him for a 6th or 7th rounder, if that is even possible.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:55
I think they'll release him.
Daniel
12:55
Ray, any rumblings on re-signing Jesse James?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:56
No. Colbert said last week they are going to let him test free agency. I think he'll find a better offer on the open market than what the Steelers are willing to pay.

Hey Ray, is Mack Wilson on the radar at all anymore?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:56
Not a lot of buzz on Wilson any longer. I don't think he goes in the first round.

If they do not give Tomlin an extension don.t they stand a chance of losing him
Ray Fittipaldo
12:57
No. He's signed through 2020.

12:57
wouldn't it be smart to announce the trade on march 13th so it can become offical right away so Antonio doesn't have any time to do something dumb?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:57
Yes that would be the ideal scenario.

Ray, If a player, like these CB's you mention, have great game tape, but not a good combine - does it really matter?? Thanks
Ray Fittipaldo
12:58
The 40 is important for CBs. Teams want to know how well they can run. So they'll take everything into consideration. Game tape remains the most valued scouting resource, but speed does matter for DBs.

Any guesses on terms for Ben's contract extension?
