Do you think there will be more cuts coming in the next week to free up more cap room?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
Yes. Larry O, Cole Holcomb and Cordarrelle Patterson are the three most likely candidates.
Charles D
2:47
Davante Adams just cut, do you think the Steelers will be interested?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:48
Depends on who their QB is.
Charles D
2:48
Any chance they land a big FA this year?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:48
Nothing crazy, but they spent $13 or 14 million a year on Patrick Queen. I think you see something similar this year in a DL, a WR or a CB.

2:49
Javon Hargrave an option in free agency?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:49
Yes. He's 32 and would be a stop-gap measure, a placeholder for a draft pick, but I could definitely see that happening. Might be cheap too since he's coming off an injury.

Good Afternoon Ray, Happy Tuesday! Lot's of talk, rightfully so, regarding FA signings at either DL or CB...but I submit that they should invest in a DECENT OT as well. Troy F. may be injury-prone and is unproven, Broderick J. may indeed be a bust even at his natural LT position. Would like to see a proven starter at either one of those positions to come in and at least compete if worst case scenarios (not to far-fetched) do indeed come true. Thoughts. Thank you for your chats!

Maybe a mid-tier free agent or a mid-round pick, but they invested first-round picks in those guys. You have to see if they can play.

I believe they go WR, OL, DL given who will likely be available when they pick. Do you think OL that high again is off base?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:50
Yes.

Hi Ray. I'm sure the Steelers have started negotiating with the preferred QB. Do you think the holdup of signing him is money?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:50
Probably.
2:51
Isn't it always about the money?
James
2:51
Do you expect Steelers to fill cb, dl and wr in free agency to enable them to take best player available in the upcoming draft? Thank you
Ray Fittipaldo
2:52
Yes if they can. And I think they could spend big to address one of those positions then less money for the other two.

Do you read/ get the Qs posted before the chat begins?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:52
Nope. See them as I go although I try to skip around a bit nd make sure I get some recent questions that were posted

I may have missed this. When is your next mock draft coming out?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:53
Will be published tomorrow or Thursday. Definitely Thursday in print.
Brian
2:53
Would Fields or Wilson be a more attractive option for Adams as our QB?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:53
Probably Wilson because he throws a nice deep ball.

2:54
As of a need as a CB opposite is, I feel slot CB is just as important.  Sutton killed us last year.  Could you see us signing two CBs, both inside and outside, in FA?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:54
Maybe address one in free agency and the other in the draft.
Tommy

You mentioned Fitzpatrick's  "lack of production the past two seasons." I can't recall the last season or any season, frankly, that his 'production' matched his price.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:55
He's a three-time first-team All-Pro. When he signed that contract he was worth it because he created so many turnovers. He's not worth it now because those turnovers have dried up. I knows it's because of his usage, but it's a cold business and the Steelers will likely move on after this season if those turnovers don't return.

Ray, Arguably, a big part of the Eagles' recent success has been a result of analytics. To what extent are analytics now a part of Tomlin's MO? Kahn's?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:56
They have an analytics department. I'm not sure how it compares to others, but they do have people in place for that.

Interesting to me that players would drop if they had late or unexpected injuries revealed. Colston Loveland is rising, despite having surgery late and being out for any evals before the draft other than chatting. Thoughts...
Ray Fittipaldo
2:58
Is he rising? I wouldn't be surprised if that injury forced him down draft boards. The report is he'll be ready for contact by the summer. That's a little bit of a risk though. No spring practices, etc. Remember the Steelers got Heath Miller for the same reason. He had a sports hernia injury, but the Steelers got him in at the end of the first round in 2005. He worked out pretty darn well.

Hi Ray, after what happened with Aiyuk last year, do you think Omar will set a signing deadline for Fields or Wilson before moving on to someone else?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:59
It's different in a way, but I mentioned earlier he might not wait for long on either if their asking price is ridiculous.
3:00
OK that's all the time I have for today. Maybe by the time next Tuesday rolls around we'll know who will be playing QB for the Steelers. Cheers!
