I can see John Michael Schmitz at No. 32 provided the first pick isn't spent on a lineman.

Hi Ray, I wouldn't mind if the Steelers brought in a cheap, dependable, veteran WR thru FA, who know he's 4th or 5th receiver.  Granted, he could work himself into being 3rd, especially if someone like Austin III doesn't pan out.  And I totally agree they need another WR.  I just think a veteran presence would do this relatively young receiving corp some good.  Your thoughts?  Thanks!

I think that would benefit the room as a whole and the team. But you have to find the right fit in free agency.

Hi Ray, thanks for all your work. Any word on contract restructuring being done on Watt, Heyward, Fitzpatrick, Trubisky, etc?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:41
Not yet, but you might start hearing about that stuff next week.

Do you see us trading up or down at draft ?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:42
In this draft, the move is to trade down and accumulate more picks unless there is absolutely someone you are convinced it's worth to move up for.

Hello Mr. Fittipaldo!  Hope it is a fantastic afternoon up your way!  There's always stories about how player groups get together for various 'chemistry building' things(e.g. Dinners/Vacations/Training Sessions) during both the off season and in season.  Do coaching staffs do anything similiar?
Ray Fittipaldo

They're in draft mode now, scouting players, etc. I think there is some time for that in the spring and summer, but most of it takes place at work and not necessarily in warm environs where everyone gets a tan too.

Ray, when do you think people will start clamoring for a new football stadium in Pittsburgh  ? Been  at Heinz / Acrisure for 22 yrs, Three Rivers was used for 31 years, 1994 was about when the discussions started in the past, your thoughts  ?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
I think you'll see an expansion before you hear serious talk of a new stadium. And it's not like there is another area in the city where they can build one. It's perfectly situated on the North Shore now.

Have the Steelers abandoned the traps and pulls we have enjoyed for so long?
Ray Fittipaldo

Yeah about 40 years ago.

"If" Lamar Jackson is not the guy (which I tend to agree), what it does tell you is that the poll of elite QB's is very small, and the cost of overpaying for one that isn't is very large.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:48
I would agree with you. Many teams aren't willing to take the chance of looking for a new guy though when they have someone who has won. Maybe not in the playoffs, but look at Jackson and Baltimore, Cousins in Minnesota. I'm sure there are other examples. Sometimes, these teams convince themselves they have a guy when they don't.

Do you really think we should keep Trubisky around for 10 mil? We could cut him, sign a vet and have money to spend to fill all the holes we have.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:48
Ideally, you keep him and get the cap hit down with an extension.

Not a draft question, when will the salaries stop exploding? It is already to expensive for most people to take their families to a game, I stopped going years ago and watch on Sunday ticket.

There are many people like you. But as long as the TV revenues keep growing the salaries will keep growing too. And teams won't be afraid to raise ticket prices.

Thanks for taking the time to chat Steelers this week. Let's do it again next week at the start of free agency!
