I was, but as I explained earlier there is an out after the first year. They hope he plays well and earns the contract, but $6 million dead cap hit is the price if they want to move on next year at this time.

Are the Steelers interested in any FA Corner? Donte Jackson,  Darious Williams, Stephon Gilmore?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:40
We'll see. Kind of a soft market for secondary overall other than JC Jackson and Marcus Williams.

Ray, Jordan Davis ran a 4.75  "40", the fastest time by anyone weighing more than 310 lbs.  Davis weighs 342 lbs. I'll bet that Cam can't run a 4.75 and he seems to do OK on passing downs.

Cam Heyward came into the league as a DE. Davis played almost strictly nose at Georgia. He didn't show versatility there. There are questions about him. I admit the size and skill set intrigue, but let's not compare a college player to one of the Steelers' all-time greats.

A good nose tackle is the difference between second and ten and second and three several times per game. Doesn’t that maki the position valuable?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:43
It does, but what happens when teams know they can't run against you and line up with four-wide and spread you out. What value does Davis or any other nose have at that point?

Teams have won super bowls with limited talent at QB, see Dilfer, Rypien, Flacco, Foles. Solid teams can win with game managers, no ?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:43
Sure. Once in a while. But typically Super Bowl teams have talented QBs.

Hi Ray - Percent chance the Steelers re-sign each of the following: JuJu, Witherspoon, Edmunds?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:44
Hard to say at this point. 50-50 on all of them.
Draft Day
2:44
KC mentioned he expected 4 QB's on the roster.  I still think the Steelers draft a QB high-up and possibly move up if necessary. Am I crazy?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:44
I don't think they draft a QB at 20.
Southside Johnny

Hi Ray.  In regards to the previous question concerning Whitehead, I’m hoping the Steelers can sign him.  Also, is there news or rumors regarding the GM position?  Are the Steelers still conducting interviews?  Thanks Ray.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
They'll name a new GM after the draft.

Do you think they're holding onto Schobert until they determine if they can get an FA target?  Doesn't explain why Banner is still here but maybe why Schobert is.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
Probably.
Jeff
2:46
Looks like Vanderesch is still out there...what are thoughts on picking him up?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:46
Good athlete, had some moments in Dallas, but injury history is a concern.
JerseySteel
2:47
Hi Ray - swap out Schoberts $9M salary for $10M for Myles Jack?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
I'd do that in an instant. But Jack might want more.
ASIANGOLFERMAN
2:47
So Banner, Schobert and D. Watt safe for now?  No cuts?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
No, I think there will be cuts.
DT
2:48
Would you rather see the Steelers bring back JU JU or Edmunds?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:49
If you don't bring back Edmunds you pretty much have to draft a safety. Hey, that might be their plan. Who knows? With JuJu, they still have Claypool and Johnson so it's a need, but probably not as much as finding a starting safety.

SO Happy to sign Daniels, Trubisky and Adams!  Don’t know much about Cole but happy to have him. I don’t understand signing Chuks at all??  This is a good draft for tackle and locking up Chuks for 3 years at 9M per is a mistake.  Thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:49
It's not a three-year deal if they don't want it to be.

How does the significant amount of incentive compensation for MT count against the salary cap?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:50
It doesn't until the incentives are met. If they are met.
RM
2:50
With the CB market being slow.  Does that drive down the price on a guy like Donte Jackson?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:51
It might. Curious to see what they do there.
Dan
2:51
If this is the best we can do, why didn't the Steelers just have Roethlisberger be the "bridge year" quarterback?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:51
Because he doesn't fit Canada's offense or what Mike Tomlin wants to do.
JerseySteel
2:52
Hi Ray - you mentioned the Steelers may have a few more moves in FA. What positions do you think those moves will be for?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:52
Secondary.

2:52
If the Steelers had a top notch ILB drop to them at # 20, would they consider drafting this player, or give DB another chance?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:52
They're giving Bush another chance no matter what. You need two starting ILBs.
RM
2:53
there are a bunch of “older” MLB’s I’d rather see a young CB and an Older MLB than the reverse.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:53
Right. Like Dont'a Hightower.
Peter Gozinia

There are a lot of good corners in this draft. Do you see the Steelers landing the next Artie Burns?
