And you see how that worked out.

Hi Ray.  Since Sadiq seems to be the Steelers’ current hot draft candidate, could you possibly envision Sadiq being taken at #21 and Friermuth then being traded as part of a package to move back up into the first round?  Thank you.
Ray Fittipaldo

Anything is possible I suppose, but I don't see them doing that.

If Ty Simpson falls to 21, why wouldn’t the Steelers take him? He is athletic, has a strong arm, is accurate and gets through his progressions quickly. I understand he only had 15 starts but he’ll be sitting for a year and learning from Rodgers. It’s time to end this quarterback debacle! Thank you

McCarthy and Khan seem to favor an FC North type of QB. In other words, a bigger player who can handle the elements.

Ray, based on McCarthy’s comments about liking big receivers, do you think Roman Wilson is in danger of not making the team?  Thank you.

The new staff believes Wilson has some potential. Plus, there is no way Khan is cutting a player he just drafted in the third round two years ago. They held onto Chase Claypool for 2 1/2 years before trading him, and he was much worse to deal with.

Ray thank you for the chat.  Given the Steelers "needs" at OL, Safety, and WR...who would be the player(s) that could be "impact / generational" in those three positions that would make sense to trade up and get w/ the draft capital they have in the first round?  IE:  Troy P.

I hate to compare anyone to Troy Polamalu, who ended up having a Hall of Fame career. But of all the players in this draft I am most intrigued by Thieneman.

Redskins drafted 2 QBs one time

And Kirk Cousins (fourth round) was better than Robert Grifin III (first round, No. 2 overall). It happens sometimes.

One thing that we know now that it’s different between the outgoing and the incoming Mikes is that the new one delegates pro days to the staff. Was the former a micromanager? Or is the new guy lazy, lol. The old guy already has a coaching tree and maybe it’s because his coaches grew in the job.

Tomlin loved the pro day process. It was his way of catching up to the work the scouts had been doing since the fall. He got involved in drills and used the dinners with players as a way to get to know them better.

Hi, Ray - I know it all depends on who is drafted before the Steelers pick, but do you see them trying to move up?  If so, would it be for an offensive or defensive player?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:38
Usually you move up for a QB or edge rushers.

Hey Ray, thanks as always for your chats.  Was there any news coming out of the NFL meetings that surprised you?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
Nothing major. McCarthy and Khan didn't break any new ground on Rodgers or Howard. Of course, it's up to Rodgers to make his decision so there's not much they can say.

For the fans (and James Harrison) who seem to think that the Steelers can trade for Burrow, are not even the Bengals are dumb enough to trade a franchise QB to a division rival?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
Maybe the Browns would, but I agree. Even the Bengals aren't dumb enough to do that.

Hi Ray, any comment on the apparent firing of Tony Dungy and who you would like to see as his replacement?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:46
Lots of people are connecting the dots and believe it will be Tomlin because he signed with an agency shortly after the Dungy news broke. Maybe Dungy will return to coaching and Tomlin will interview him and Dungy will give the Jaguars bulletin board material before a playoff game.

OK thanks for joining in this week's chat. We'll do another one next week.
