That's a lot of dominoes that have to fall in your favor. I don't seem them trading back unless some team offered them a great deal.

AB has turned into a Jealous ex-girlfriend out of control, no kidding so glad he is gone, has become a nightmare .. What say U Ray ?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:24
They're better off without him, but they still have to replace all that production. It won't be easy.

Do you believe Xavier Grimble can be a legitimate Tight End #2? With James and Vance he rarely saw the field. Besides the goal line fumble, which was awful, I thought he’s looked pretty good. Maybe our need for TE isn’t as high as some think?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:24
No, but I think they can get away with him as a No 3.

Ray if the Steelers can’t get one of the Devins isn’t there a LB from NC state that is pretty good as welll?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:25
Yes Germaine Pratt is a Day 2 pick. Likely third round. Former safety can cover as an ILB.

We have handed out two large contracts to Heyward and Tuitt, yet I very rarely see they bat down or deflect balls. Arent they taught to get hands up on passes? I am old, frustrated and miss the old defensive line push!
Ray Fittipaldo
12:27
I don't have a problem with Heyward's contract. He's earned every penny. The decision to give Tuitt all that money isn't looking great right now, but by no means have they given up on him. I just think they expect more out of him.

Are you Mike Ditka? Giving up a 2/3/4 and 7th for Devin White is way  too much!  It would have been better to sign a top Free agent instead of spending that much draft capital!
Ray Fittipaldo
12:28
I didn't say a 2/3/4 and 7. I said No. 20 a 3, 4 and 7. I think that's what it will cost to move into the top 10.

Even if the Steelers get a Devin in the draft, are they really defensive saviors? They are a step up, but remember Kendrell Bell?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:31
Both are prototypical 3-4 ILBs in today's NFL. Not every team has those fast ILBs that can cover as well as play the run. And yes, I do remember Kendrell Bell. He was a second-round pick and played extremely well for a few years.

Would the steelers consider drafting Hollywood Brown or are they done dealing with that particular family?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:32
They interviewed him at the combine, but I'm not sure they want to go down that road.

Will there be a point before draft day that you will know if the Steelers are intending to bundle picks and move up,  or ride with all 10?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:34
There will be speculation in the days leading up to the draft, but those discussions usually don't heat up until draft day. If White and Bush are gone by No. 8 or 9 then it might become a moot point.

Do you ever see the Steeler draft boards pre or post draft? What is the harm of releasing them five years (or even ten years) later for fans to see?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:35
That would be a fascinating exercise if they let us see them, even if it was 5 or 10 years after the fact. I just think it would do more harm than good. You could upset players inside your locker room or motivate players for other teams.

Pittsburgh's 1 and 3 this year (original 3) and next year's 3 to swap places. Do you do it if you're Jacksonville? Detroit? Buffalo? Pittsburgh?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:36
I'd do that if I was Kevin Colbert. I wouldn't do it if I was the GM of the Jags, Bills or Lions though. I don't think that's enough to move up into the top 10.

I wasn't wondering if Shazier was going to play again.  I just wondered what the team was thinking as to whether they can/will keep him on payroll for rehab purposes.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:37
They're committed to doing that. They're just waiting for the league to respond how to do it within the framework of the CBA, etc.

Miles Sanders in third or fourth round? What do you think?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
Not convinced the Steelers will take an RB that high. But if they do Miles Sanders would be a really good pick. He was in the shadow of Barkley at PSU, but he played well last season when he finally got a chance to start. Plus, he tested extremely well at the combine. I'd have no problem if he was a third-round pick.

Why did Colbert/Tomlin go and WASTE a draft pick on a long snapper two years ago in the sixth round. This was  the final straw for me in his drafting abilities.  Remember, Mr. Big Chest was a sixth round pick. Can you honestly look Steeler Nation in the eye and say that Holba was the best player on the board at that time? I knew then that the Steelers werent going to be contenders for Mr. Lombardi's trophy any time soon under his tutelage at the GM position. I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:41
Not Colbert's best moment as a GM, but how many guys taken after Holba are Pro Bowlers? Or even starters? I'm not sure. I'd have to look myself, but the point is you're not getting impact players at that point of the draft most of the time. And that was a year the Steelers were coming off an AFC title game appearance. They felt like they had a complete team and could take a LS there. Didn't work out, but it was only a sixth-round pick.

Baltimore made some interesting moves. Do you see them being as good this year as they were in 2018.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:42
Will be interesting. As you note, a lot of changes especially on the defensive side of the ball.

12:42
Any Pitt players who might get a call on draft day?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:42
Ollison maybe. He's a late-round guy or UDFA.

Ray, please re-read your comment about moving up to the top 10. You did write No. 2. I had to re-read it to figure out you left off the "0".
Ray Fittipaldo
12:43
My bad., This happens in these rapid fire discussions. My apologies. I was suggesting their first, a third, a fourth and seven to move up into the top 10...

Ray, #20, one of the 3rd rounder's and our #2 next year for TB at #5?  I want White!
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
I would do that in a heartbeat, but why would Bruce Arians?
Chuck_in_DC
12:44
Wouldn't be the same without my obligatory Dud Dupree question.  Why do you think they are sticking with Jarvis Jones 2.0?  ZERO production from Dupree after this long...I digress.  :-)
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
He hasn't played like a first-round pick, but he's not Jarvis Jones. Dupree hasn't had more than six sacks in any of his first four seasons, but I think Jones had just six career sacks before he retired.

what type of receiver will best compliment what we currently have. someone tall, fast, possession type, or some other attribute
Ray Fittipaldo
12:46
I think a fast WR that can stretch the field and make the occasional big play. Think Mike Wallace or Martavis Bryant.
George in OKC
12:47
If and when Pittsburgh drafts a WR, do you think they will be looking for more of a number two outside guy or more of a speedy slot receiver? Or will it depend on who is available when they address that position?
