Afternoon Ray. Would you say a perfect scenario would be to grab Harris at 24 and go back and get Dickerson with our 2nd round pick? Or you have a feeling we'll grab a tackle instead.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:15
Dickerson or Humphrey would be good with me in the second round. I doubt either is there when the Steelers pick in the third round.

Ray, would Jimmy Morrison of Pitt be a consideration for starting center, in the 3rd to 7th rounds
Ray Fittipaldo
2:16
Later rounds or undrafted free agent and when guys get picked that late they're just trying to make the 53-man roster or practice squad.

There sure is a lot of chatter about the Steelers trading up for Fields.  It seems like a lot of hooey to me.  What are your thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:18
They're trying to maximize their window with Roethlisberger. They had one of the worst offenses in the league last year. Unless they believe Fields is a slam-dunk franchise QB for the next 15 years I don't see how they make that move. I think he's a good QB and is likely to be taken well before the Steelers have a chance to make a move.

Hi Ray, yesterday Brian mentioned he thinks the Steelers would select Landon Dickerson with their 2nd pick.  From everything that I heard about him, it would be a great pick.  However, I don't think he'll last that long even with the injury.  What say you?  Thanks!
Ray Fittipaldo
2:19
You might be right. He could be gone by the time the Steelers pick in the second round. His play on the field isn't at question. It's his injury history and how that affects his long-term viability as a player.

I don’t see Mac Jones as worthy of a first round pick. Do you?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:20
A lot of people seem to think he'll be the No. 3 overall pick. I'm not one of them, but I know QBs get pushed up draft board every single year. It's just the way it is. Jones can be effective in the NFL, but he needs the right pieces around him.
Nate

Hi Ray, besides Sewell and Slater, is there any other OT that you'd select before Harris or Etienne?  Thanks!
Ray Fittipaldo
2:21
Darrisaw would be tempting.

Hello Ray. We go oline 1st pick. Trade up in 2nd to get one of the big 3 RB. If all 3 were available who do you think would be best fit for Steelers?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:21
All three are good options, but I guess if you're forcing me to pick my favorite I'll go with Harris.

Hello. Thank you as always for the chat.  Do you think that Steelers have any real  interest in signing Jesse James ?  It seems very quiet and although they can wait till draft but there is always a risk that he gets signed by someone else. With limited draft picks and so many holes, it seems like a no brainer to me.  Any other positions that you think they will sign in free agency before the draft. Thank you very much.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:22
There's not really any urgency to make that move now. The Steelers and a lot of other teams are going to wait to see how the draft shakes out and then address any holes on their rosters after that.

If there is no impact player at 24th pick, why not move back to late 1st round ~ early 2nd round to get more picks? I predict a trade back and select the following 3 players in 1st~2nd rounds. 1) Sam Cosmi 2) Javonte Williams 3) Creed Humphrey
Ray Fittipaldo
2:24
That'd be a pretty good haul if you could get all three of those guys late in the first or in the second round.
texan steeler
2:24
although i like spilane, the Steelers are a better team with him as a ST ace and a back up ILB. What do you think?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:24
That might be the case, but they don't have anyone else at the moment to play the position.
Jb
2:24
Is OC a bigger need than OT. and if they do not get a tackle do the bring Al back
Ray Fittipaldo
2:25
Hard to quibble over that. Both are needs. And I suppose that's a possibility with Villanueva. I just don't see them passing up a tackle in this deep tackle draft.
Reece
2:25
Ray- Are the Steelers satisfied with who they have at tight end or do you think they will try to get one in draft?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:26
It would appear Ebron is back for a second season so they're set with their starter. They need quality depth at the position though. There's next to nothing behind him.
AK
2:26
National mocks are a joke in my estimation.  Some have the Steelers taking Edge, ILB, or CB in the first.  Do you see any of those happening?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:27
I'd be quite surprised.

2:27
Hello ray.  Do you believe a good draft can help the steelers back into SB contention?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:27
Sure. They were a playoff team last year. It would take the right picks for sure, but it could happen. Not likely, but it could.

What are your thoughts on the Steelers about the possibility of bring back Leveon Bell.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:28
Bell doesn't look like the same player so... that's a no from me.
Jb
2:28
At the start of the draft process there appeared to be three backs who could be 3 down starter types. Do you think there could be a back go in the second that the Steelers view as a starter other than the big three
Ray Fittipaldo
2:28
Maybe, but the consensus seems to be there is a gap after Etienne, Harris and Williams.
Tj
2:29
if all 3 RB are availabe at 24. I trade down 3 or 4 spots and pick up an extra pick?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:29
Not a bad idea.

2:29
Hi Ray, any indication or sense that this may be Kevin Colbert’s last draft?  Thanks.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:29
Colbert signed a deal a month or two ago that will ensure he'll be the GM through the 2022 draft.

With the Steelers having so many good teams.Tomlin not Winning a playoff game in a long time. Shouldn’t he be on the hot seat instead of extending him?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:32
Warm seat. And I know a lot of people assume he'll get an extension -- and he might -- but I think it makes more sense to let things play out.
Alan
2:32
Landon Dickerson is intriguing in that he’s exactly what the Steeler O line needs if he can stay healthy. I know that’s a big if, but if the Steelers are comfortable with his medicals, can you see them taking him at #24?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:33
The medicals would have to be immaculate. And that's hard to envision after two ACL injuries before the guy turned 24.
