Of their seven picks last year five came in for visits. They value getting to know these players on a more personal basis.

If Mason is our starter this year, which version of him do you think we get?  Mason who saved our 2023 season to help us make the playoffs or Mason who went 1 - 4 for the Titans last year?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:38
Somewhere in between

I've seen a number of writers say offensive line is a sleeper need for the Steelers, including your colleague Chris Carter. Do you think the Steelers would be willing to spend a day 2 or higher pick on either interior line or a swing tackle?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
No.

Is there any chance that AR is wanting two years and that is what is holding up his signing?  Regardless, what percent chance you you give now that he will be a Steeler?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
50.5%

Thoughts on a trade back in first round with needy WR team, say KC.  We send them our 1st and Pickens for their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:40
That's not a bad deal.

Would the Steelers lose comp pics if they sign Rogers before the draft?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:40
No. He was released by the Jets and does not factor into the comp pick formula.

Ray do you have a preference in order for Sheddeur, Dart and Milroe
Ray Fittipaldo
12:41
That's hard to answer because there would be different value associated with each depending upon what you got them. For me, I'd rather wait until Day 2 or 3 to get a QB so Milroe.

Ray, could you see a scenario where they would trade Pickens for an actual player, say a RB or DL?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:42
I don't think so. But who were you thinking?
Ryan
12:42
a deal with TJ absolutely has to get done….   Correct me if I’m wrong, but have the Steelers even won a game when he’s out.?  I know it’s a crazy record
Ray Fittipaldo
12:43
1-10 is the record without Watt in the lineup.
Terry Hanratty
12:43
How serious do you think the Steelers are in drafting 3 offensive players... a WR, RB, and OL in this year?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
Definitely a running back but I think the chances are higher they take a quarterback before OL and WR.

I thought one of the main hallmarks of great players is how they elevate their game in the postseason. When has Watt done that for the Steelers? To me, he is the NFL equivalent of the Toronto Maple Leafs. If he wasn't able to dominate a playoff game and help lead the Steelers to victory by now (age 30) isn't it very unlikely he will do so in the future?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
Shouldn't you have named a player on the Maple Loafs rather than using a team to make your point?

Is the 1-10  record without Watt in the lineup an indictment of future first ballot Hall of Fame Coach Mike Tomlin's true coaching ability?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:46
Or that Will is just a really important piece of their defense.
Matt
12:46
Why do we keep talking about trading GP14... So were right back where we were last year with 1 WR as the only real weapon....
Ray Fittipaldo
12:47
He's only under contract for one more year. It makes perfect sense to explore those scenarios.

Do you feel like the Steelers have a plan for building a SB team, including drafting and developing a franchise QB? Sometimes it feels like they are more focused on the narrower goal of just winning a playoff game. It is hard to have alot of confidence in the Rooney-Tomlin-Colbert/Khan leadership dynamic right now.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:49
You can't win in the playoffs without an elite QB, or maybe I should say make a deep run without one. I think every team has a plan to do that, but elite QBs are hard to come by.

Thanks for the chats. Who has inside track to WR3? Austin? Wilson? Other? Thanks
Ray Fittipaldo
12:50
I'd say Austin has pole position, but Wilson has a chance to push him.

Hi Ray, always enjoyed Craig Wolfley as a player and color commentator. Have you heard who might be in the broadcasting booth with Rob King this season?  RIP Wolf.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:50
Not yet, but they could easily elevate Max Starks to that role and then hire another sideline reporter.

12:51
What are the chances the Steelers part ways with Cordarelle Patterson and look to the draft to find a running back "type" with the same skill set but younger?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:51
They're brought in several RBs and WRs who also have return abilities. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.

12:53
Ray, why are the steelers and their fans only organization that doesn't value QBs? Everyone wants a DL or WR. You keep taking qbs until you hit. Look at the AFC and the ab's in the conference
Ray Fittipaldo
12:53
Maybe it's because you can't get a franchise QB sitting at 21.
Anthony G. Halkias II
12:54
I think Cameron Skattebo is the most underatted RB in this class. Do you think the Steelers have a chance at him and what round?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:55
There should be plenty of opportunities to get a RB in rounds 3 or 4, which is where Skattebo should get drafted.
Ok thanks for taking part in this week's chat. One more next Tuesday before the draft. Talk to you then.
