I don't have any big expectations for him. He's an offensive assistant.

The Steelers still need a better ILB. Devin White has requested a trade. Can you explain why or why not that could be an option. What would it cost in a trade, and is there cap room?

He wants a new contract. And the Steelers really aren't in a position salary-cap wise to make him an offer especially after they signed Cole Holcomb and Elandon Roberts in free agency.

Ray  I remember when the NFL draft was 14 , 15 or even more rounds.  When did the NFL reduce it to 7 rounds and why did they do that?

When I was a kid in the 1970s and 1980s there were 28 teams. Now there are 32. So it's not necessarily that fewer players are getting drafted. It's just that there are more teams. Plus, I think teams prefer undrafted free agency versus extending the draft with more rounds. They can lure players with signing bonuses, etc.

Ray, how much better will Watson (Browns) be after a year of clearing out the cobwebs?

They better hope a lot better with that anchor contract they signed him to.

Did you happen to see Coach Cowher on Ben’s podcast? I’m a huge fan but was a little disappointed in Coach on a few points. I thought he was a little more humble that what he showed on there and I actually feel like he used the opportunity to set the record straight on some things to make himself look better. Ben vs. a tackle, mentioning several times about difficult conversations and implying that had he stayed, the “well-oiled machine” would’ve won more championships. (Might be true) Perhaps I’m reading too much into it but he’s a Hall-of-Famer. Everyone likes him. Why the need to rehash old things that are over and done with? He basically implied that “Tomlin won with Cowher’s players”….A concept that I never quite agreed with. Thoughts?

I haven't seen the entire podcast and won't respond until I do. I'll make a point to listen in the next week so you can ask again next week. Sorry, I just don't want to answer without hearing Cowher's words myself.

Ok thanks for taking part in the chat this week. We'll be back in our regular slot next Tuesday.
