Yes he can become the backup this year.

Ray, I’m in a pool.  Gimme 3 tunes to play in the DVE Memorial Day 500 this year, but they need to play in the 400’s.  Whatcha got…

OK. Moonlight Mile by the Rolling Stones, Money for Nothing by Dire Straits and Badlands by Bruce Springstein in honor of his appearance here this evening.

Hi Ray, thanks for the great chats. If Jones can go, is McCormick the odd man out? Thus Jones, Dunker, Frazier, Troy, and Iheanachor. Assuming the rookies have a good chance of pushing out Mason.

I don't get that sense.

Hi Ray I do not recall ever reading about position flexibility in the offensive line being coached to this extent on an NFL team. Seems that almost every member is being asked to learn multiple positions, including starters. I understand that injuries during the season may force change and this may prove helpful. Is this this a new trend in the NFL? I would think the players prefer honing their skill at one position and not shuffling around. Potential for jack of all trades and master of none? What do you think?

They want to know their options if there are injuries during the season, and I think that's what this spring is all about. I don't think you'll see a lot of movement in training camp. They'll want to get those guys comfortable in one spot as they prepare for the season.

Do you think they would keep 4QB’s this year
Ray Fittipaldo

Not all on the 53, no.

I'm tired of Drew Allar Big game narrative when the Penn State team as a whole laid an egg in Big Games starting with coach, and PSU even QBs pre dating Allar underperformed,  it is the main reason Franklin is gone.  Don't you think we just see what a good coaching staff can do?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:41
I'm willing to do that, but I also acknowledge they're tearing him down to build him back up because he didn't exactly have great coaching during his time at PSU.

Ray what do you think of the depth chart naming Will Howard as the number 2 quarterback.   Do you think mason's days are numbered?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:42
I thought it was interesting, but it's also May 19. Lots can happen between now the opener.

Does Chris Simms just need to say something when he says allar could be cut? I feel it is more likely he is qb2 than not on the 53 man or ir

Good god, he said that?

When does B Jones have to return by to have a real shot at working his way back into the lineup? if he isn't back by week one we should look to trade for a low round pick I feel since the odds of him coming back into the rotation after injuries and falling out of favor seem low

I'd probably say mid-August.

Ray: I really enjoyed your article suggesting that this should be the last year that the Steelers sign an aging veteran QB in a desperate attempt to remain a fringe playoff contender.  I agree with you, but why wasn't 2025 the year when Jaxson Dart could have been drafted?  Why wasn't 2026 the year when at $22m+ this is the first year that the strategy isn't exactly "cheap" like it definitely was with Wilson and sort of was last year?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:46
You're right. It was supposed to be one-and-done with Rodgers last year, but the '26 QB class was underwhelming as was the crop of free agent QBs.
12:49
OK thanks for all the great questions this week. We'll do it again next Tuesday.
