Mikeee, that's what we're going to find out. What I was negative about was the Steelers drafting a QB in the first round when they had more immediate needs, especially after signing Trubisky.

Hi Gerry, good morning! In general I really like this new roster with the FA and Draft additions. However, I don't feel comfortable with the ILBs yet. If this group plays poorly, can the DL, OLBs, CBs and Safeties still make this defense good? Each one of those positions has at least 1 great player (97, 90, 20, and 39)

I really like the additions too, and I'm curious to see what the two new ILBs look like on the field -- Holcomb and Roberts. I think Holcomb will be a good fit.

Gerry - have you or the PG ever considered doing a golf chat, maybe at least prior to the majors? I would find that very interesting.

Great idea. And I have

To combine your two areas of sports writing: which current Steeler is the best golfer, and which past Steeler was the best?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Might be Patrick Peterson right now. Single-digit handicap. In the past, Tommy Maddox, maybe. Coach-wise, Ken Whisenhunt (played in US Mid-Am), Dick LeBeau (plays from the tips...or did) and Todd Haley (past golf professional).

Hey Gerry, we never had the opportunity to watch Ben playing here in Mexico. Do you believe we will have the chance to watch KP?
Gerry Dulac

Yes

I’m in my fifties and the Steelers have only had three head coaches in my lifetime. If I’m lucky enough to make it to 100 will that have changed?

Gerry Kevin Colbert had challenges with Big salaries like Ben's for instance, but the roster that he left for the new team was noticeably lacking in overall talent. This seems to have been upgraded over the past offseason! Is this due to a fresh approach or more salary cap room, or both?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
Well, he left this roster with Kenny Pickett, George Pickens, Diontae Johnson, Najee Harris and Pat Freiermuth, to name a few of the key offensive players. And Cam Heyward, TJ Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick on defense. I would not call that noticeably lacking in talent

Jaylen Warren turned out to be a really nice surprise last year. Do you have early thoughts on who makes a surprising contribution this season?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
Too early to tell just yet

Hi Gerry,  Will Tomlin get the contract extension this year or does Rooney II wait another season?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
Nope. He gets it. They've never waited before, don't expect them to start now
Ben

Seems like ILB has been in Peril for a while now, and they finally cleaned house there. Do you see the arrow pointing up for that unit? Anything is better than what was there

Gerry — who do you think will be remembered as the bigger fool —- AB or LB ?

Good bar-room discussion. Neck and neck -- like Affirmed and Alydar

Do Steelers now have the players in place to make a playoff run, in your opinion?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
I don't know about a playoff run. Given that they missed the postseason by one game last year. I'd say they are in position to make the postseason in 2023

I saw an article comparing Cowher and Tomlin and the writer p
gives the edge to Tomlin. I do not consider success with the players inherited and mediocrity since a better position? Do you agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
And not when the other coach had Roethlisberger for 15 of his 18 years

Gerry, who were notable Steelers who missed this year's voluntary workouts and the reason why they miss them?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
So far, all the notables have showed up for one session or another. I don't blame them for skipping. They do nothing

Gerry, I like a lot of what the Steelers have done this offseason, particularly to upgrade their offense. My one big worry is that they'll still lack for explosive plays. Pickett himself last year acknowledged that you can't rely on grinding, 14-play drives over and over. How do they fix that this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
That's the million dollar question. Lack of explosive plays was a big problem for the offense, one of the main reasons they failed to score a lot of points

Hey Gerry. Who do you think will have a bigger role in the offense this year: Allen Robinson or Calvin Austin. Thanks!
Gerry Dulac

I'll check with the team doctors

Gerry, If the Steelers ILBs and secondary were  a movie I would rate the past six years or so as tragedy, comedy and occasional horror show. Plenty of new actors in this years movie. Do you think we finally get an action adventure with a happy ending?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Fast and Furious they were not

Would you allow Bell to retire a Steeler?

Gerry, good morning.  I have been watching highlights of Hakeem Butler.  I know it’s XFL competition and not the same as NFL.  But he really looks good!  Do you know if the guy can play special teams?  If so what are the chances that he makes the team?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
With his size and natural talent, there is a good chance. But there is probably a reason he's playing in the XFL, don't forget that
