Then why is Wentz no longer with the Chiefs?

Hi Ray - by all accounts Mason is a good person inside and outside the locker room.  Money aside, why come back here?  No other suitors?  He been treated poorly IMO.  Thanks

He knows Tomlin and many of the players. And sometimes the grass isn't always greener. Yes, you might feel he was mistreated by the Steelers, but his situation in Tennessee obviously wasn't great.

Which wide receiver do you think would be the best fit for the Steelers’ offensive scheme that no one is talking about—someone who complements DK Metcalf and could potentially mesh well with Aaron Rodgers?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:01
Short-term the player who meshes with AR, but obviously you want to develop someone who can complement DK for the long term.

Hi Ray! Thanks for the chats! So, which happens first: the Rodgers drama ends or the Steelers add to the WR room? Does one determine the other?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:01
I think the QB situation is resolved first.

Why does the Steelers defense play so bad in the playoffs? They just don't stack up against better than average teams?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:03
As I mentioned earlier the Steelers are trying to clean some things up with their defensive scheme so opposing offenses don't ring up the scoreboard like they have in the playoffs. Much of it is scheme related, but the players have to do their jobs too.

Does the QB1 answer impact the Steelers' ability to challenge the Ravens in the AFC North? It seems the best case scenario is beating out the Bengals and Browns for second and a wildcard playoff spot.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:04
Anything can happen, but I agree with you. The Ravens are the team to beat in the North, and the Steelers are likely competing for a wild-card berth.

Is Aaron Rodgers purposely not signing until the quarterback hitting the blocking sled drills are over? If so, good on him.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:05
Ha ha that's not until the conditioning test at training camp!

Aloha Ray, at this point AR would really be screwed us over if he didn’t sign and report for Mini Camo, right?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:05
Yes but I'll edit to training camp.

Ray, what do think is the biggest question mark on the OL heading into camp?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:06
Broderick Jones and maybe Mason McCormick, but I think McCormick will be fine.

What is the plan at WR, besides them not having one.  Easily a bottom 5 wr core in the league.  Let’s not pretend Calvin Austin is a thing either.  Gabe Davis band-aid ain’t it.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:07
Have you looked around at who else is available as a free agent? Barring a trade for someone like Chris Olave you're not landing a quality starter at this stage of the offseason.

Ray, is mandatory OTA's the deadline for Rogers to sign?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:08
Only minicamp is mandatory and no, training camp is the deadline.

Were this a video chat, what percentage of time would we see you rolling your eyes at some of the questions you receive? Including this one ... face_with_rolling_eyes

Ray…I NEVER thought I’d see the day where Steelers ‘fans’ are advocating for the Rooney family to sell the franchise. They’re certainly not perfect…none of us are BUT do people not appreciate double-digit wins and at least playing in meaningful games all year, every year? Yes. I know the playoff facts and they’re not what any of us want. Ask for a different QB and scream about firing the coach but to suggest that the owners should sell the team is a reflection upon those ‘fans’, not necessarily on the family or the organization. Your thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:10
They should be Browns fans.

Ray will the Steelers cave and go into salary cap hell just to placate TJ and keep his brother off TV so JJ doesn't trash them?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:10
They'll pay him as long as TJ wants to be here and it has nothing to do with anything his brother says on TV.

Ray, OL is better, DL is better, RBs are better, DBs are better and 12 draft pocks in 26...Why all the doom and gloom?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:11
Are you sure the DBs are better?

11:11
If Rodgers signs, does he play in any of the preseason games? Thanks for chatting Ray!
Ray Fittipaldo
11:11
I'm sure they'd want him to play a few series.

Hi Ray, Steelers should use the Franchise Tag to sign TJ Watt.  He and Miles Garrett are not worth $40 million per season, and the Franchise Tag would likely guarantee two more years of OLB security while the Khan artist drafts Watt’s replacement.  Appreciate your thoughts?  Thanks Ray.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:12
It's an option, but players do not like the franchise tag, especially players of Watt's tenure and skill level. That would be a bad move by the Steelers, which is why it won't happen.

Ok thanks for all the great questions this week> I have to go watch some practice. Stay tuned for more at post-gazette.com and our YouTube channel later on today with the news and notes from OTA No. 4
