Seems from reports that Mitch has turned the tide on the QB performance at camp...fair to say? Also, over the past week or so, how would you rate Pickett's performance vs Mason's, those two having alternated essentially the same team reps?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
Pickett threw two more INTs today. I don't think Rudolph has one all camp. Rudolph has been better overall but Pickett is making some improvement. I don't know about turned the tide. He's been the No. 1. Has he played better in the past week? Sure, but he was never god awful. I mentioned earlier about the injuries to skill position players. That matters.

Devin Bush and a conditional 2nd or 3rd for Roquan Smith from the Bears...what say you?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:48
Highway robbery for the Steelers. Bears wouldn't do that.

Is Mark Robinson practice squad or does he actually have a chance to make 53?  Who are the ILB to make it?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:49
I like what I've seen from Robinson. He's been noticeable. Marcus Allen has been injured and Buddy Johnson isn't a lock to make the roster so if Robinson shows he can play special teams he'll have a shot.

K. Greene seems to be struggling in one on one drills.  How has he looked in the full contact 11 on 11 work? Your early impression of O line in general?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:50
My early impression of the O-line: not great. It's hard to watch interior linemen in team periods, but you are right. He has struggled in 1-on-1s.
Marc from Germay

Hi, R! Did Ogunjobi make the OLine look bad in his first practice or did they make him look good?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:50
Probably a little of both.
Mercury
2:51
Why is it that some offensive linemen seem to be able to be plugged in at any position while others can only play in one spot, like LG or RT? Speaking of which, is Zach Banner’s career over?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:52
Most offensive linemen are versatile enough to be able to play two spots. The exception is the bigger and taller tackles. But for the most part, most centers can also play guard. Most guards can play either center or tackle. And some tackles can play guard.

Biggest concerns in order. 1. Qb 2. O-lline 3 run defense . Any of those you think are no longer a concern with added players..

Ray, Do the Steelers carry 6 or 7 defensive linemen in the final 53?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:54
They usually carry six, but I could see them carrying seven this season. They have some depth there. Of course, it all depends on whether that guy can contribute on special teams.

I keep seeing reports that the Steelers love Arthur Maulet as the slot corner. Do you concur with this? If so, I'm surprised. He's been mediocre throughout his career, plus I think Sutton is better suited for the slot. I like Witherspoon and Wallace outside, Sutton inside.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:54
He's the slot CB in the base defense and short-yardage situations.

Hello Ray, I still think OTs will make or break this team. If they cannot protect QB1 this team will not make playoff. Are you confident Moore and Chucks will play at high level this year?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:56
How about an average level. I'm not down on Moore. I think he will improve. And Chuks, we kind of know who he is. He's OK, but he's not making a Pro Bowl anytime soon.
Avoid Lloyd

I feel like the Steelers will have a short leash on Bush this year.  How do you see the ILB position play out with Bush and Spillane?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:56
Bush starts but Spillane is there to push him and ready to step in when Bush makes a mistake.

Is Ounjobi ready and raring to go?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:57
He's practiced full the past two days.

Sounds like Pickens could be out #1 receiver.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:57
I think that's a good bet. Talent-wise, it's all there.

Will Ogunjobi start inside next to Heyward this season or will he play behind Alualu?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:58
Ogunjobi will start at DE opposite Heyward.

Just a question about training camp life, out of curiosity... Are all the players staying in a standard old-school dorm, two to a room, communal bathroom, etc?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:59
Most have roommates or suitemates. Many of the established players have singles.

How does 77 look in practice?
Ray Fittipaldo

OK. He's in a battle for a spot on the 53-man roster. He's versatile, which helps.

I've read recently that James Daniels has actually struggled some in camp and is not the home run everyone has believed him to be so far. Thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo

Give it some time. I think he'll be fine.
Ok thanks for the questions this week. I have to write some stories. We'll do another chat next Tuesday.
