Well Lenny, I think that's what we're about to find out over the enxt few weeks.

What are the chances B. Smith makes the 53-man roster, and if so, do the Stillers keep 7 WRs?

I cannot remember the last time they kept seven WRs. And I think Smith is a long shot at this point.

I expect Queen to have a strong season, and I believe Tomlin bears most of the responsibility for the team’s struggles at off-ball linebacker over the past decade. The most recent effective play at the position came from Williams and Shazir, but that was long after LeBeau left. Even Queen commented on the scheme and just looked at how much Spillane improved once he got away from Tomlin. Should they extend Queen now when he would probably take a discount?
Ray Fittipaldo

Extending Queen is not their priority right now. I think they're willing to see how he plays in Graham's defense before making that call.

thanks for chats Ray. I haven’t paid attention enough to know the latest deal on the playing surface at Acrisure.
Is it a hybrid deal now?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:42
Yes, it's a new and supposedly better surface. All NFL teams have minimum standards now for their surfaces. We'll see what it looks like with Pitt and some high school games on there after November, but the grass surface now is expected to be an upgrade.

We've all read that Heidenreich will get some good reps on special teams in the pre-season; since they are converting him to an RB, will he get any noteworthy reps at that position in exhibition ball?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
Well, he's been injured so it depends on whether they feel like he's ready. I don't think Warren or Dowdle will play much tomorrow night, so guys like Kaleb Johnson, Lew Nichols and Travis Homer should see plenty of time. Heidenreich too if he coaches believe he's ready.

Why do you think D Washington will not get as many looks in the passing game?  He was a monster last year when he got the ball.  Yes, Freiermuth must get more involved but that comes at the expense of the Junno Smith, which i have no idea why he played the 2nd half of last year.

There are only so many balls to go around. You have to feed Metcalf and Pittman and Freiermuth is expected to get more snaps and targets. I'm not saying he'll be phased out of the offense, but I don't think we'll see the same usage in the passing game.

Thanks for participating in today's chat. We'll do it again next week, and we should have plenty to discuss as camp transitions from Saint Vincent to the South Side in the middle of next week.
