I think they view him as a versatile reserve rather than a starter. He hasn't seen much time at all with the 1s at camp.

Why is it that Rudolph continues to be the odd man out?  He’s performed well in camp, he’s performed well in the pre-season.  He’s done everything asked of him.  It just boggles my mind
Ray Fittipaldo
2:17
Simply, he's not the mobile QB they desire.

The last time the Steelers had this poor of an OL is 2010-2011.  The organization used to be able to develop late round/FA OL - Foster, Flier, Finney among others.  What happened?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:18
Mike Munchak left. Before him, they had other quality line coaches. Not saying everyone Tomlin has hired has been bad, but they haven't stuck around very long.

Do the Steelers carry four TE into the regular season?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:19
Three I think. Rader to the practice squad.

I've been impressed with Warren with the ball. Have you noticed how he does with pass protection or finding a soft space in coverage as a dump off?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:19
Yes he's very good at both.

Has warren passed Snell as RB2?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:19
I think they're battling.

How is Calvin Austin’s foot injury progressing?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:20
Good he says. Unlikely to play against the Lions. It appears Tomlin is taking a cautious approach. Not sure if he's a candidate to go to short-term IR, but it doesn't appear to be a long-term injury.

Ray, What is reasonable amount of time for reconstructed OL with new coach to jell? By 1st game? Mid-season? By end of season? I suspect bumpy improvement during adjustment period is normal. Thanks for your insights.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:21
It's the NFL. They should be ready by Week 1. They're pros.

Hello Ray.  Do you think the Steelers may move Daniels to center?  I understand that is his best position.  Thank you Ray.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:22
Kind of late now, but they should do whatever they can to improve that group because now they stink as a whole.

Ray, what in the lord's name is going in with the COACHING of our offensive lineman? There is a clear digression or widespread horrid technique . Who is this new coach and why is he attempting implement his aggressive techniques with such an unproven squadron?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:23
His name is Pat Meyer, and he does teach aggressive sets in pass pro. Kendrick Green said that yesterday. However, if you jump-set you better get your hands on the guy because if you don't you could get the QB killed.

As of today, in your opinion, who is the #1 and #2 QB?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:23
Trubisky and Pickett.

Hi Ray..I seen that the Steelers just released the 4 QB...whats going on?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:24
Well, based on the fact that he didn't take one team rep in camp, should we be surprised? They barely trusted him to run the card plays last week when they played the Jaguars.

Hi Ray, There is a photo accompanying the chat chat that shows a Steeler player attempting a catch of a novelty football... Why have them practice with anything other than a regulation, NFL, game day football?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:26
Sports teams always train with different types of balls. These are used in warm-ups. Baseball pitchers use footballs because it positively reinforces an over-the-top motion. These rugby type balls serve a purpose, too.

Which RBs do you see on the practice squad?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:27
I'd say McFarland if he can clear waivers.

I haven’t heard this idea mentioned before as an option—could Cole move to guard and have Hassenauer as the center?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:28
Yes, but they haven't practiced that way yet.

I don’t have high expectations this year, I have viewed this as building year 3. They have some nice pieces and i would expect about 8 wins this  year. They had a lot of holes to address, wouldn’t you agree?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:29
9-8 or 8-9. 9-8 would be on the fringe of the AFC playoff picture.

Alledgedly, Steelers are in the minority of teams that "actually" go live & tackle in practice--from what I see, they need much more practice at it, & should max out their allotted time to go live--UR TAKE?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:33
My take is do enough to properly prepare for the season while making sure your stars don't get hurt.

Coach Ray/.  Make the call. No new players. What do you do to fix the line?   Left to right. Who you got?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:34
I'd commit to Dotson being the starter at left guard. And I'd be telling Dan Moore he has to play better. Otherwise, one of the tackles behind him is going to start getting snaps with the 1s.

Chuks doesn’t have the makes of a varsity athlete.  KG doesn’t have the makings of a Junior varsity athlete.

Thanks Uncle June.

Ray,   How can the OL be having such scheme issues this late after OTA’s and mini cz
Ray Fittipaldo
2:36
Don't think it's scheme as much as talent and technique.

When’s the last time the steelers made a trade this close to the opener?
