Hard to say. Harris definitely has some burst. Also, the Lions stink.

Good morning Ray! Is Mason R due to be the next Cliff Stoudt? A shaky bridge to … our true QB1 of the future?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:17
That's a new one. The more popular comparison is Neil O'Donnell, who led the Steelers to Super Bowl XXX. I know O'Donnell was limited, but I think Steelers fans would settle for a Super Bowl appearance with the next QB after Ben. I mostly hear gloom and doom once Ben decides to hang them up.

Hi Ray - Is Banner a full go health wise now?  Do you expect he will wear a brace?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:18
He started on Saturday but played less than the other starting linemen. I think they're being cautious. He still some time before the Buffalo game.

If we don’t keep Sexton I see Belichick grabbing him.  Seems like a BB fit.  Can Sexton make our team simply as a return guy or he needs to have som value in passing game?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:19
Interestingly, the Patriots were one of the teams that wanted to sign Sexton in the spring. He chose the Steelers instead.

Ray how has Jamir Jones looked in practice like your roster prediction i hope he makes the team
Ray Fittipaldo
10:20
He's looked good although I can see them picking up an OLB after final cut-downs and trying to sneak guys like Jones and Quincy Roche onto the practice squad.

Great chat Ray!  Was the best scenario  to keep Ray-Ray and mr. Sexmesome on the 53 man roster?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:20
No they're similar players. You don't need two of them on the roster at the same time.

I thought there were many positives from the offense in that game, and one of the most impressive moments to me was Diontae Johnson standing in and making the catch on that long pass. The ball hung a bit, and DJ had to know there was a safety coming at him like a truck. He could've made a business decision there, especially since it's preseason, but he made the big play. I know everyone is excited about the rookies and Year 2 Claypool, but I think DJ will be the breakout star of the skill players this season. Do you think there's any reason to believe he's solved his drop problem.
Ray Fittipaldo

You never really know if a problem like that is completely solved. The proof will be in the pudding. He has worked hard at eliminating the drops, but the issue will resurface the first time he does it in the regular season.

I see various predictions about the Final 53 but none account for another team cutting a player the Steelers jump on. Has that happened lately/could it happen?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:22
That happens almost every year.

I dont see anything from Haskins that he can throw the long ball.  Rudolph can ,  and that is why he is firmly the No.2 QB.   Thoughts on this statement ?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:22
Rudolph is very good with the long ball. I don't know that Haskins is particularly bad it, but I would say Rudolph is better at it than he is.

10:23
Why do people hate Rudolph so much? He's clearly a much better QB then what he was in 19'. He's Kirk Cousins and you can win plenty with those guys IMO. What say you?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:23
If you have a good defense, then yes.

Ray - do you like what you’re seeing from Chuks or no?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:26
Saturday night was not good. Chuks has had issues in pass pro that his coaches have been slow to fix. This goes back a few years, and I've written about it. He has the bad habit of keeping his arms at his side in pass pro. This allows DEs and OLBs to get their hands on his chest and control him. This happened on a few occasions against the Lions. They got him on ice skates and created pressure. The one time the DE ended up at Ben's feet, almost rolling up on him. It should be an easy fix, but the fact that it hasn't been corrected is a bit troublesome to me. He's in Year 4. All he has to do is keep his hands in the ready-to-punch position. Otherwise, he has the best skill set for a left tackle on the team. You just have to hope he gets better with his hands and becomes a better technician.

My apologies for not knowing, but what happened to Tuitt?
Ray Fittipaldo

His brother died in an auto accident in June.

Is there a chance we pursue a starting offensive tackle?  I feel both are very questionable, at best
Ray Fittipaldo
10:27
Never say never, but I think they roll with Chuks and Banner into the regular season. But they have to perform. If they don't, then you might see a move.

Going to my first Steelers game in October! Any must things to do in Pittsburgh the Saturday before?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:28
Roberto Clemente Museum, Andy Warhol Museum. Plenty of good restaurants and other things to do as well.

Do you have any concerns about Sutton at outside CB? he got burnt a few times already this preseason and im sure teams will pick on him until he shows he can shut down.
Ray Fittipaldo
10:29
He can get beat long sometimes, but every corner deals with that. If he's inside in sub then it will be less of a worry. And it seems like it's trending that way.
OK that's it for today. Have to run to practice to do some interviews.
