Switz still on Brownies practice squad? Don't want him gaining all those horizontal yards against us
Ray Fittipaldo
2:38
Do you think the Steelers secondary can cover Switz?

Ray -  I'd like to see Ray Ray returning all kicks going forward.  DJ keeps getting banged up  on punt returns.  Odds Danny and Tomlin agree?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:38
They might after what happened against the Eagles. They might want to think long and hard about exposing Claypool on all those special teams units, too.

Do you think the Steelers need to commit to the run game more?  Perhaps under center?
Ray Fittipaldo

What they're doing is working, but I did think it was interesting to watch Dotson in the game after he came on for DeCastro. Everyone else was playing in two-point stances, and he was putting his hand in the dirt quite a bit. He's clearly more comfortable blocking from a 3-point stance. Maybe he can rub off on his linemates and have them make the switch too.

By the end of the year will 11 end up being our receptions and receiving yards leader?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:40
Good question. I think he has a chance to do that.

Ray - Was Tomlin too dismissive of the team's lack of success in flipping the possession on all those third and longs with the Eagles? Can't be expected to play the last week of the season if you are doing that...
Ray Fittipaldo
2:41
Yes I think that's fair. Can't imagine he's walking into meeting rooms and saying the same things to his players.

scoring is up across the league, offensive calls including holding are waaay down, and there are phantom defensive pass interference calls. Also no fans makes it easier for audibles at the line of scrimmage.  Being as the Steelers are a defensive team is this concerning? Will we have to score 30 points to win?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:42
They did it last week, and my guess is they'll have to do it a few more times before the season ends, especially if the secondary doesn't step up and play better.

Hi Ray - would you say the late interception just outside of 2:00 was a mental lapse by the secondary?  We sacrificed 40/50 yards by not just knocking the ball away and taking over on downs inside the Eagles 30.  Given how the game wasn't QUITE over at that point, would have it been a smarter play to NOT catch that ball?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:42
Yes it would have.

i think Ben looks more comfortable ‘this year and could it be he doesn’t have to deal with AB.  Your thoughts please
Ray Fittipaldo
2:43
Or please him by throwing him the ball when he's not open.

I think this fact has been lost... despite the down play of the secondary the Steelers are still getting turnovers. In today’s NFL timely stops and turnovers is basically all you can ask for out of a defense
Ray Fittipaldo
2:44
Yes but how long can you count on turnovers when third-and-longs are converted at such a high rate?

Do you sense JuJu getting inpatient with the lack of targets recently?  Is he getting doubled and that's why Ben is going elsewhere?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
I haven't seen that. Don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but as I mentioned earlier this seems like a selfless receiving corps.

Convoluted question Ray, is the secondary being more exposed this year because opposing teams feel that they have to score more going up against Big Ben rather than Mason/Duck?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
Hmmm. Never thought of it that way, but they certainly can't be conservative this year with the way the Steelers are playing on offense. But I don't necessarily recall teams being ultra-conservative last year, either.

Love the chatty. Any word on Zach Banner's rehab? I was shocked to hear that he would miss the entire season. The injury did not look severe on television.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:48
It's an ACL tear. They're usually nine-month rehabs.
Awesome STEELERS

the STEELERS players read these chats?? It would be interesting to know as we Fans seem to know a lot of our misgivings/Successes.  Just saying.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:49
They read more than you might think. And probably more than they should. I'm shocked at how sensitive they are when it comes to criticism.

If they '79 Steelers walk through that door we are going to lose.

I don't know. I think Mel Blount might still be able to play.

McDonald if your reading, great block to spring Ray Ray
Ray Fittipaldo

Chuks too. But yeah the McDonald block sprung him.

Thank you for taking part in the chat today! Let's do it again next Tuesday.
