You are right. They did not sign Roberts to stay on the practice squad all season. I don't think Bruener is the guy who will get released. He is a good special teams player. Not sure what the move will be, but I suspect they envision Roberts being used as a run stopper when they play teams that like to pound the football.

To me, Patrick Graham’s defense looks like the same old 2-4-5 that Tomlin used. Do they lack the personnel to run a true 3-4 defense with down linemen? Any chance we’ll see more 3-4 and less 2-4-5 as the season goes on?

Forget about the alignment, I just want to see a little more creativity on third downs especially against young QBs.

Ray. A 4th round pick for Wetjen.   Who did the talent evaluation in this pick?  My goodness the draft capital used for this pick could have sure helped in other positions.

Not looking like a great pick. He would do himself a favor if he ran vertical up the field on kickoff returns. Running sideways isn't going to work in the NFL like it did at Iowa.

Ray.  Don't you have to smile just a little bit with drama still surrounding JPJ is Dallas?  Do you think he felt a new contract was coming or is this most recent issue a real sickness?

I know one thing: the Steelers hope he plays one more game. That's the only way they get their conditional sixth-round pick. He had to be active for two games.

Has Troy settled down at LT?  You mentioned Max could eventually play there.

Yes I think he's been fine. I was talking well down the road.

Are the Steelers even blitzing? It feels like they’re just rushing four and counting on Watt to be a “Hercules.”

Occasionally and not well when they do.

OK that's all the time I have for today. Have to get to Mike McCarthy's news conference. Stay tuned for next week's chat time. I'll be in Paris so we might have to adjust a little.
