Not as long as they stay .500ish.
Tommy
11:25
Tuitt back after the bye week?   McFarland?   Any chance for Steeler trades before the 11/2 deadline?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:25
They'll have a decision to make on McFarland after the bye week. As long as he's healthy he'll be activated.
Tim

In your opinion, do you see the Steelers giving Edmunds and Bush second contracts given their play of late and the first round draft investment.Secondly, are Norwood and Buddy Johnson viewed as viable  replacements?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:27
They already made the decision on Edmunds. They didn't pick up his fifth-year option. He could come back at an affordable price, but he's likely to move on in free agency. As I said earlier, Bush is less than 50-50 to have his fifth-year option picked up because he's not playing like an ILB you'd pay big money to. Not sure on Buddy Johnson. He might develop, but for now he's a fringe roster guy. Norwood has versatility and could play in that capacity, but he's not a prototypical strong safety, either.

The o-line is playing better, run game is improving ... yet the Steelers scored just two TDs vs. Seattle. #
Ray Fittipaldo

Would have had three if Claypool didn't drop a pass at the 5-yard line that would have given the Steelers a first-and-goal.

11:28
Hey Ray why do Steelers insist on using Claypool on the outside instead of in the slot where he had success last week? Also its immensely frustrating seeing a dude with his physical gifts not man handle DBS and win jump balls or combat catches. He plays like a marshmallow man when catching passes.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:30
I agree with you 100%. They need more from Claypool, especially now with Smith-Schuster out for the season. He's just not a natural when the ball is in the air. He's fast, but I don't know if he has football athleticism or that innate ability to make plays.
Ron
11:30
That was about the worst tackling I have ever seen. Why would the Steelers pay millions to keep Edmonds next year? I don’t see why, and an upgrade might be on the roster.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:30
They won't. He's going to be a free agent in March.

Hi Ray: Why do the Steelers run Nagee  between the tackles into an 8 man front 10-12 times a game?  Seems crazy to and perfect for play action to the TEs.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:31
Freiermuth was a bit more involved, but I agree with you. They could utilize him a lot more. Ebron too.
Joe Snarky
11:31
Anyone to fear in this defense? I know the league has changed over the last decade-plus, trying to eliminate violent hits to unprotected players. But is there anyone on this defense like a Ryan Clark, James Harrison, etc., who makes a WR or a RB think twice about making a catch or getting to the second level? Cam and Watt are great, but this D lacks nastiness, IMHO.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:31
After Watt and Heyward, this defense might lack talent, too.

Hi Ray, well bye week here, Im not impressed with team so far..  I dont see many more wins.  I can see a 5 or 6 win season. Play call sux. What say you for remaining wins ? Thanks.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:33
I said 8-9 before the season began so I'm going to stick with that.
Trump of Steel
11:33
Minkah sucks. Do you think there is any chance the Steelers don't give this fraud a big contract?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:34
There's always a chance. They went up to the deadline with Watt and Heyward the past two years.

11:34
Any word on Ron Moore's injury?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:35
Dan Moore has a hip injury, but there has not been an update provided by the team. We'll see if he's at practice in a little bit. 12;15 start rime for practice today.

Who makes a decision on kickoffs? I wish Boz will just kick it to the endzone and not let the opponent a chance to return as Seattle had a few returns that could have gone all the way.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:37
Sometimes they feel like they can pin a deep deep if they kick it to the goal line and induce a return. That didn't happen on Sunday night. The Seahawks averaged 36 yards per kickoff return. I'd just kick it out of the end zone every time to eliminate the chances for longer returns.

Hi Ray, I appreciate your chats.  Do you think there are any mental reasons why Ben won't throw downfield?  On a few occasions this past Sunday, it did look like he can put some zip on the ball.  It also looked like he chose to take the short pass when there were open receivers downfield..
Ray Fittipaldo
11:40
When they are in close games I think he is cognizant  of the turnovers that might take place if he throws the ball down the field. That and maybe he's not completely comfortable with his protection.
Utah Jim
11:40
Why 52 snaps for Ray-Ray? If that’s the plan for the rest of the season this offense is done.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:41
I don't think it will be. Washington should be healthier after the bye.
Ryan
11:41
Ray what did you think about the play of TJ heyward and highsmith all three did great on Sunday
Ray Fittipaldo
11:42
Definitely Highsmith's best game of the season. He had been very quiet, probably because he was getting healthy. Watt and Heywaerd are game-wreckers when they are healthy.

What has Washington done to get so few snaps even after JuJu was put on IR?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:43
He was coming off a groin injury and was limited in practice last week.

Good afternoon Ray. Once again Tomlin fails to make adjustments in the second half to stop the run. Why not stack the box and let Geno Smith try to beat you?  Tomlin has a history of failing to adjust. All the games against Brady and the Pats, they played zone. Brady killed us. Never adjusted to man coverage. Tomlin has to go. Thanks
Ray Fittipaldo
11:44
Maybe Sunday night will force him to play a little traditional.
Rocco
11:45
What do you think are the odds of Canada returning as OC next year?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:46
I doubt they'll fire him after one year unless the rest of the year goes terribly bad.
Slip
11:46
P. Harvin has been consistently up and down. Do you seem him becoming more consistently up?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:47
He also had a 32-yarder on Sunday night and then some good kicks. So no I don't see the consistency that is needed, but he is a rookie so he's learning.

11:47
Any chance of LC Getting into the HOF?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:48
I doubt it. They just inducted the Centennial Class, which was designed to get some guys like Greenwood in. The committee chose Donnie Shell instead.
Utah Jim
11:49
I don’t see a QB who lost his arm strength. I see a QB getting rid of the ball way too fast because he doesn’t trust the protection. It’s causing problems with his accuracy and decision making. Same as last year but worse. Will it get better?
