What is your assessment of our OC?  How would you compare him to Canada?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:29
He's a much superior play-caller and knows how to set up defenses.

ray, do you think this team can compete with ravens. Ravens D is not elite and Steelers have Lamar's number.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:30
Sure they can. Maybe we'll get another Steelers-Ravens playoff game. We haven't had one of those in a while.

I thought I heard Beanie Bishop tell Melissa Stark after the game that he was going to ask Aaron Rodgers to sign the footballs he intercepted.  Do you know if he really did that?  I cannot image Rodgers would be willing to do that.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:31
Bishop said he knows a few guys on the Jets my guess is they'll try to help out.

Ray.  Elliot was a better signing than Queen, agree , especially if you factor in value(meaning what they paid for each) and production
Ray Fittipaldo
2:33
Through seven games by value, yes. But lots of football ahead. Queen has been playing better lately.

Hey Ray, I’m wondering if Mr. Hillgrove attends the Steelers games.  Still trying to use to hearing someone else’s voice doing play by play.
Ray Fittipaldo

I saw Bill a few times at camp but not at a game yet.

Ray: lattitude or attitude?
Ray Fittipaldo

I took off for a weekend last month just to try and recall the whole year
All of the faces and all of the places wonderin' where they all disappeared
I didn't ponder the question too long, I was hungry and went out for a bite
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum and we wound up drinkin' all night

Good Afternoon Ray what do you think about the play of Beanie Bishop he looked Good against The Jets
Ray Fittipaldo
2:38
By far his best game of the season. Before the game, I was wondering if his roster spot was safe once Sutton returned. But after listening to Tomlin postgame my guess is they'll keep him on the roster and find ways to use him.

Hi Ray. Replay Assist has helped the NFL get calls right without impeding the flow of the game. Any chance it's mandate is expanded to help correct calls like the phantom leverage penalty against Minkah on the blocked PAT?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:42
I asked Tomlin about the competition committee's resistance of adding more replay review to correct officiating mistakes. He said the committee's approach has been cautious when it comes to infusing more technology into the game although he seemed offended to term resistant. But how else should we interpret the league's approach to correcting officiating mistakes? Tomlin went out of his way in his opening statement to say he called New York and he let us know without us asking that New York told him the officials got it wrong. Yes, Mike we want know why easy fixes like replay review can't correct errors by officials. I wrote about it some today. Under the radar: Corliss Waitman. Turning in a very good performance at a crucial position after the starter went down in Week 1.

2:42
Great call. He's been really good for the most part.

hey Ray, thanks for the chat. Seems to me that George Pickens is always having to battle the referees along with the defense. Opponents always grab and hold onto him and he doesn’t seem to get the calls he deserves. What do you think?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:43
I definitely noticed that against the Jets, but I don't recall it being a big issue in other games. Maybe I'm wrong. But some of those misses by officials in the Jets game were bad.

monday has all the markings of a "Tomlin Special".  What say you
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
Maybe, but it's probably the last chance for a Tomlin Special unless you say one of the Browns games. But I usually don't consider division games candidates for Tomlin specials.

Did not like, to put it mild, A. Smith putting Russ in shot gun/ empty set on 3-1 early but... other than that... called a good game.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:46
It took a few series, but Smith got some rhythm with Russ by the second quarter. Russ talked about it after the game. Smith warned it might take some time and it did.

I love seeing those throwback 1974 uniforms. Seems to be a great energy connected with them and the Steelers have a good record while wearing them too. Any chance they come back again? When?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
They usually wear throwback unis only once a year.

Do you know what kind of oil they hit Russell Wilson's joints with after the first few drives. I used a 30 blend... 1930s.

What's up with Minkah? This was the year he was supposed to return to playing "Minkah ball" but he seems to be invisible out there
Ray Fittipaldo
2:50
But the defense is really good. They've given up 15 points or fewer in five of their seven games. Would you make any major changes just to get Minkah more involved? Not sure I would.
Rick
2:51
Ray, how much of the Steelers decision to go with Russ, now relates to a perceived limited window for the strong defense due to age and financial limitations?  That is the age of Cam and TJ, and the ability to keep others.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:52
A big part. Tomlin said last week they are trying to position themselves to be that team. He said they were really good at times with Fields at QB, but not to be confused with great.
2:54
Thanks for participating in today's chat. We'll do it again next week but stay tuned for a time. It might change due to the off week.
