My guess is others would be involved in the process this time around to make sure more quality candidates are interviewed and considered for the job.

It feels like every year is the same thing, like the Steelers are stuck in the mud and can't make any progress. I'm not in favor of moving on from Tomlin because I think he and the Rooneys share in the blame. Is this a systemic issue?
Ray Fittipaldo

Things definitely seem stale. But they needed the QB to take a big step this year, and he hasn't. They needed the offensive line to be better, and it's hasn't been. They needed the RB to be better, and he hasn't been better. Does the coordinator bear some blame for that? Absolutely. But it's hard for me to determine how much. I watch the first play of the game and have no issues with the play design. Johnson was wide open. Pickett and Johnson have to get on the same page and make that play. They also have to score on third-and-goal.

Any chance the Steelers could pursue Hank Fraley next season if the offensive line play continues its’ poor play?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:27
They might need to look at all avenues if the offense continues to sputter.

So Diontae blamed the refs when he had huge drops??  What is wrong with this team?  I haven't seen any accountability with this organization since Ben retired.

Johnson dropped one pass on the third play of the game, but it wouldn't have counted. There was a holding penalty on the play. I don't consider the first play of the game a drop. As I mentioned earlier it would have been an above average catch. As for the comments after the game, he'll be fined for them. I actually think it was refreshing to hear the truth from players in that circumstance. The officiating was that bad in that game.

Are we seeing 1980’s all over again? HoF QBs gone and super bowl winning coaches that got stale. Those 80’s teams also had a first round QB that didn’t amount to much.
Ray Fittipaldo

At least those teams had some playoff success. The 1984 team made it all the way to the AFC title game. They 89 team almost made it to the title game if not for the guy from VMI dropping the pass near midfield.

Good morning Ray Punter PH is way to inconsistent  to be an NFL punter when do we move on from him.

Brad Wing is available I do believe. The problem is, Harvin can look really good in some games. I'm sure that's appetizing from a coaching standpoint.

Harris looked terrible Sunday. Is it time to give Warren the start and see how he performs as the featured back?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:34
I would do it, but I don't think they will.

Not right now, but 5 1/2 hours remain before the deadline.

Is Washington expected to play more? Seems like he should be out there more often.
Ray Fittipaldo

Rodney Williams played more than Washington against the Jaguars. Tomlin said that was due to the Steelers being in catch-up mode at the end of the game. Whatever the reason, the fact that Tomlin perceives Williams as a better pass catcher at this juncture of both of their careers isn't a terribly good sign for Washington's development as a receiver.

Hi Ray, How badly do you feel Tomlin’s conservative offensive theory is hurting the team?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:38
Are they conservative. Or conservative and not very good. Conservative would be fine if the offense was competent. It's not competent.

How do you think the relationship is between Tomlin and OK/AW? Think any latent tension with how players are utilized or coaches?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:39
There's always going to be tension in that regard, different opinions. But the Steelers have always let Tomlin oversee the roster once it's set how he sees fit. In the offseason, that's a different story. That's when the GM and assistant GM can make some moves.

Do you think Jaylen will ever be allowed to get a shot to see if he could be our #1 ?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:41
Probably not anytime soon. They believe they need both. And by the way, Warren had 19 rushing yards against the Jaguars. In other words, it's much more than the RB. The OL has to bear some responsibility.
10:42
Ok thanks for the questions this week. The locker room opens at 10:45 and I have to get in there. We'll do another chat next Tuesday.
