Dobbs has been around Ben longer than Rudolph or Haskins. He obviously trusts him and values his input.

Hey Ray. What do you make of the Ingram trade. I don’t mind it because based on reports, his attitude was negative and he didn’t want to play a role. They got draft capital to either draft or deal for depth today.
Ray Fittipaldo

A sixth-rounder is better than nothing.

What do you make of a veteran like Ingram becoming so disgruntled about playing seemingly so early in a season? Were they not clear on his role before signing him? Selective hearing on Ingram's part? Or just another whiny, diva NFL millionaire that puts personal interests over wins?
Ray Fittipaldo

It's a business. And Tomlin said something today that I was thinking about over the weekend. This is why the Steelers build through the draft. You can think you get to know someone in the free agency process, but a lot of times there are reasons guys like Ingram are available.

You are the GM of the Steelers, what are their two biggest needs for this years team?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:28
DL and OLB or DL and slot WR...or backup RB.

Pressley Harvin has been described by many as a sort of modern-era dual threat athlete/ massively legged punter. And yet, when they had the opportunity to utilize his arm on a fake kick, they chose to let Boswell throw the ball. Harvin's punter has been poor, and they haven't utilized his athleticism with ANY trickeration. You "writes up" special teams trick plays? Is that Canada or Danny Smith?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:28
Boswell has a very good arm, too.

In case no one comments on the fake field goal, does it make sense that we can’t expose a 240 lb QB with two backups to a sneak but we can expose our only 185 lb PK to a rollout that invites getting creamed? Did Danny Smith forget he had Harvin on the field?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:29
Call me crazy, but I am pretty sure Boswell was instructed to hold onto the ball for five seconds.

Tomlin very candid about Ingram needing to leave once he became discontented - was the concern that he would repeat the antics of Harrison in 2017?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:29
I'm sure that experienced played into their thinking. How could it not?

Hi Ray - I know Garrett is a top pass rusher, but Dan Moore looked like a swinging gate on Sunday when 1 on 1. Is there something technique wise he can improve or is his ceiling limited?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:31
All young players get better with age. He's a fourth-round pick. If he was a guy who could walk in and hold Myles Garrett without a sack and dominate him he would have been a top-10 pick. He needs to work on his pass pro. That's obvious, but he is making some strides and especially in the running game.

Hi Ray - the offensive line continues to generate penalties at a high rate that is stifling offensive continuity. What can be done here?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:31
Drill technique in practice and bring in officials to work practices. Tomlin said today that's on the table.

There is no chance Bush gets a 5th year right?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:32
The way he's playing now I highly doubt it.

I just cannot understand the situation with Stephon Tuitt. He is getting paid $9mm this year and plays a position of dire need for the team. And yet he is permitted to, essentially, take the year off for "personal reasons." In no other industry is this permissible behavior. Does this not set a dangerous precedent for NFL owners? Can players now cite "mental health" issues and still be paid while chilling at home on the couch?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:32
What would you like the Steelers to do?
Charles Demarr
1:32
Thoughts on Gentry?  He all of the sudden looks like a viable #2 TE.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:33
He does and that's good not only for now but the future.

I don't really understand that "voided years" contracts that the team has been using lately. Will Ingram still count against the cap after this season?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:34
Yes. They will eat some money in 2022.
Kyle
1:35
Ingram isn't the first free agent that got to Pittsburgh and then desperately wanted out.  Do they not understand the roles they are signing up to perform?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:35
It's a business for them. It's a business for owners, too. You shouldn't forget that.
Mike
1:35
Can we survive the loss of Ingram?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:36
You do know he was a backup, right? It's the equivalent of asking if the Steelers can survive without Benny Snell or Robert Spillane.
Buster
1:36
Because it’s football and anyone can get hurt shouldn’t the Steelers have definite designated emergency replacements for kicker and holder (and punter, for that manner) who at least spend a few minutes a week working on it?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:37
They do but as Tomlin explained today just because they identify players as emergency kickers or snappers or holders doesn't mean he's comfortable using them in game situations.

alot of chatter about adding a DL via trade before the deadline at 4PM today. Do you think this has a good probability of happening?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:37
They certainly have a need after losing Alualu and Tuitt.

1st and Goal from the 2 and Tomlin knows they aren't going to attempt a FG. Why not run at least the first three times and hoe to get 2/3 of a yd per carry? At some point they have to man up and not rely on a miracle catch to score in those instances...right?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:38
It's hard to run in goal-to-go situations. Sometimes, you have to throw to get in.

Do you think Banner will end up starting eventually? Even if there are no injuries at either tackle spot? I'd rather him start over Chuks than Moore, personally.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:40
They're not going to make any changes up front as long as they are winning and running as well as they are now. And I don't blame them.

How would you rate Najee’s 91 yards rushing relative to the run blocking of the offensive line? Is the blocking improving, or the running, or both?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:41
The run blocking is definitely improving. Dan Moore and Kevin Dotson on the left side are doing a great job on double teams. GO back and watch the Browns game. Very impressive.

Did the Steelers miscommunicate Ingram's role on the team from the beginning or did he change his mind on the role he was willing to accept?
