Yeah I think they need to get back to drafting and developing. Not saying you don't sign free agents. Every once in a while you have to in order to fill positions on your roster. But they have to start getting young on defense, and the only way to do that is by drafting and developing.

It seems like in the AFC there is a changing of the guard with Buffalo, Baltimore, and KC being replaced with New England, Denver, Indy, and Jacksonville.  Is this all about a franchise QB or is parity at fault
Ray Fittipaldo
11:04
You might be right on New England, but hold your horses with the Broncos and Colts (no pun intended). And especially the Jaguars. Did you not see how they choked away that game against the Texans on Sunday? And I'm not giving up on the Chiefs or Bills just yet this season. Still a lot of season to play out.

See you guys on Sunday, I expect a better defense from you this time around.  How may points do I need to score to win considering your offensive struggles?
Ray Fittipaldo

24?
JP
11:06
Is it possible to switch the def coordinator mid season? they have been wildly inconsistent.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:06
Who wants to tell JP?

Ray, the Steelers do not play well on the west coast.  Do they ever try to change their itinerary to get a different result?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:07
No, they're pretty consistent on when they leave. Some teams go out two days before a west coast trip, but the Steelers don't.

Hi Brian, Cris Collinsworth had some pointed criticism of the Steelers supporting receivers last night. Granted, he made the comment after that atrocious drop/interception from CAIII, but it seemed a little harsh to me. The receivers weren't overthrowing passes or calling stupid fade routes into double coverage. Herbert was slinging it out there into tight windows on slant plays. Maybe Steelers don't have the schemes and/or QB to make it work. Thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:08
But they weren't getting open either. I didn't hear the broadcast because I was in the press box at SoFi, but I'm guessing he was talking about that.

Ray, with another quick loss do the Steelers do something drastic with their personnel or will it be keep the faith mentality?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:10
There won't be any drastic changes with their personnel. There never is in-season.

In my opinion, the Steelers have missed the boat on obtaining wide receivers either via trade, free agency or the draft. They need at least one if not two great route runners, not just big, strong and fast guys that they throw the ball up to. The last good route runner they had was Dionte Johnson before his melt down. They need receivers who can get open on a consistent basis. That makes the quarterbacks job a lot easier.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:11
They definitely need to address the position in the draft, if not free agency.

Should we file a missing person’s report on $12 million Jonnu Smith?  Why did they bring in the OC’s favorite toy if they weren’t going to play with him (in the slot like Miami did)?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:13
Lots of money being doled out to players who don't produce in this offense, isn't there?

Good morning Ray.  I’m glad to see Castro back on the team.  Do you think he might get some playing time against the Bengals?  Thank you.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:15
I'd be surprised but maybe if they want to use Ramsey in the slot again.

Hey Ray, I’m curious if you have started your research for your mock draft.  Appreciating your writing and your chat, it wouldn’t surprise me if you’re already doing so.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:16
Not yet. I wait until January for that.

We have been told that the 2026 draft class is loaded with QBs. At this point, how many are actually worth trading up for?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:16
Still too early to tell. Have to see the postseason all-star games, the combine, etc.

I have heard 2 things since our game.  WRs were open and Rodgers missed them and there was no where to throw cause no one was open.  Which did you see???
Ray Fittipaldo
11:17
Rodgers definitely missed a few throws, but I didn't see many WRs open when I watched the game.

Hey Ray - sad tomlin cam is featured heavily on these national broadcasts. I don’t remember him looking like that on the sideline in past years. He’s always pacing and talking to people and just sort of emoting. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that he gets exhausted by this at the end of another year of same old same OLD. Any signs of the fire dimming? Tnx -
Ray Fittipaldo
11:20
Not that I've seen or heard. But the only way there is a change is if he wants a change. I don't think the Steelers are going to pay $34 million to anyone to do nothing for two years.

11:20
Why can the Steelers offense and the Steelers defense never play well at the same time? It’s always one or the other dragging down the team
Ray Fittipaldo
11:21
I had that same thought the other night. It's been that way for the majority of the games this season.
Edie
11:21
Hi Ray, Coach T was clearly upset after the loss to the Chargers.  At today’s press conference, do you anticipate him still being that way or will he be somewhat settled down?  Thanks.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:22
Tune in to find out! I don't think he'll be as agitated. That was a pretty embarrassing effort on Sunday night.
Lucas D.
11:22
Thanks for these chats.  Do you know if Rodgers has any interest in returning next season or whether the team is interested in bringing him back?  Thanks Ray.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:22
They haven't had those discussions with Rodgers or his reps yet. That will happen after the season.
Ed
11:23
Is there a role for Jonnu Smith in this offense?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:23
He played more than any other TE on Sunday night and I barely noticed he was out there except for that drop, or misfire from Rodgers.
11:24
Ok thanks for all the great questions this week. We'll do it again next week.
