Hey Ray, thanks for the chats!   Did it look to you that Cordarelle P looked sluggish when he was running or was it just my imagination?

It was his first game back from an ankle injury so I'm sure that was part of the reason. As I noted in my report card after the game, Arthur Smith seemed to force feed him into the personnel packages early. And I think that adversely affected the rhythm of Najee Harris, who only had 53 yards after three consecutive 100-yard games.

Ray:  Connor Heyward is now being used as a fullback in some critical short yardage situations.  I haven't kept track, but normally when I notice him on the field I think "this play is not going to work" and it usually doesn't.  How would you rate his effectiveness or lack thereof in that role?

I'd rather see guard Mason McCormick as the lead blocker on a pull rather than Heyward from the fullback position. I get it. He's versatile, but he's not a guy who is feared as a blocker.

Ray, Patterson looks a bit overweight to me and in case I was going crazy, a casual viewer asked who the overweight guy is, but didn’t use that word. Have you noticed? He also looks WAY slow and unathletic compared to his younger days, or even earlier this season.

He's definitely a bigger running back, but honestly the extra weight was not a hindrance before the injury. I'm sure the coaches will be watching this week to see if he's better.

Ray with the addition of Williams  and him getting more playing time who’s role will get diminished Jefferson or Austin

I don't think Austin's role will change all that much. He might lose a few snaps here to get Williams in the game, but they like what he brings to the offense overall.

OK thanks for taking part in today's chat. We'll do it again next Tuesday.
