It's tough for a defensive lineman, but yes.

Any word on whether Claypool might play this week?
Ray Fittipaldo

Tomlin seemed optimistic today.

If Freiermuth is tackled in bounds, seems like the game would have ended with or without that fumble?
Ray Fittipaldo

Yeah I think it would have been close. Maybe a second or two on the clock if they're lucky.

Could the Steelers sign former first round pick Reuben Foster and see how he is as a MLB? He's a thumper and a good tackler.

And has a sordid off-field history.

Ray, I'm not sold on Canada as OC.  Reminds me of Ray Sherman under Cowher.  You think he gets a second year?
Ray Fittipaldo

I know no coach who wants to start over after only a year at a position of such importance. Having said that, Canada can do much better and I'm sure eyes in the organization will be on him in the second half of the season.

Has Spillane fallen off the depth chart? He is the alleged run stopper and I rarely see him now.

Spillane has this reputation as a run stopper because of the hit on Derrick Henry, but he shared with us during OTAs that Tomlin wanted him to get better on run defense and he thought his pass defense was a strength. Just reminding some folks of this because I get the Spillane run-stopping thing a lot.

For the "fans" that complain about Tuitt not playing....the Steelers stand by their players...we don't know everything about Tuitt's situation, but the team seems okay with him not playing.  Remember, this is the team that kept Ryan Shazier on the team so he could get medical treatments and physical therapy at the team facility.  They didn't have to do that.

Ray, if the Steeler don't sign Mincah (which they won't) and Ben retires, they should have enough cap space to sign a number of players for various positions.  Maybe the Steelers will get lucky, next year, and be able to sign some very good players (FA or trades).  Your thoughts?

Right. Because free agency has been so good to them in the past. This is a draft and develop organization. It always will be as long as the Rooneys are in charge. It's why they've been so successful over the years. They'll have $ to fill in some holes, but they get younger and better at a lot of positions. And you do that through the draft.

NFL refs and head coaches/coordinators should be required to have played D1 or professionally? Yay or nay? I can allow a slide for coaches, but at this point I feel refs need to understand how some calls will affect a game in a disastrous way and should be called in certain situations. Do you agree?

Good luck organizing that. You just don't see a lot of pros or big-time college players interested in officiating.

OK thanks for all the great questions this week. We'll do it again next week.
