They won't reduce Garrett's suspension. That's why it's indefinite. They want to punish him into next season. I'm not holding my breath on Pouncey getting his reduced. Maybe to two games, but that's it.

Has anyone asked Rudolph why he was clearly trying to rip
Ray Fittipaldo
2:21
Because Mylges Garrett tackled him to the ground for no reason. That's your answer. I don't even need to ask Rudolph.

Afternoon Ray. Once again the Steelers have third and one. MR is in shotgun and they don’t get the first down. Steelers call time out and then come out in shotgun again for fourth and one. Pass incomplete. Horrible. Who’s to blame?  MR,MT, or RF?  Offense is pathetic. The narrative that MR is young and inexperienced is getting old. There are a lot of young QB’s getting it done.  Thanks for the chats.

Well, first off, their refusal to use a QB sneak hurts them in those situations. But since Rudolph almost never operated under center in college I'm guessing that's why they don't do it. But they should. They should practice it because it could help their short-yardage efficiency. As for the other play calls, do you really have any confidence in this offensive line getting a push in those situations? They haven't done it all season, so I'm OK with the passing plays. How many times do you have to watch RBs get tackled in the backfield to drive the point home that the line is not very good in those situations?

Thanks for the chat Ray.  As a native of Jeannette, I find the Terrelle Pryor story interesting.  Any indication the Steelers are interested?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:24
No.

Ray it seems we need our draft picks desperately to rebuild the offense (TE, WR, RB, OL). I dont see how we can afford to lose dupree and try also replacing him in the draft. Any chance we are able to resign him ?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:25
I agree with you. That would be ideal if you keep this defense intact. I'm not sure it can happen because I'm not sure Dupree will want to sign one with him being so close to unrestricted free agency. I also don't know if they can do it cap-wise.

Ray, did Steelers miss a trick on 2018 draft by not drafting Lamar (see- Tomlin loved Mike Vick).  Terell Edmunds was indeed a reach...it would have been a whole different story
Ray Fittipaldo
2:26
Yeah if you knew Ben would get hurt. But there is no way of knowing that. Ben wasn't happy when they used a third-round pick on Rudolph. How do you think he would have felt if they used a first-rounder on Lamar Jackson?

2:27
Not a good game for Rudolph (even before the end), but AB and bell are gone, Conner, JJSS, and Diontae got knocked out, and OL played poorly.   Yeah he missed some throws, but not sure Ben would have been much better.  What say you?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:28
I tend to agree. There are a lot of things that play into his poor play. But I also know Ben's mere presence likely would open up more running lanes. Opposing defenses would be more threatened by the potential of throwing deep. So your point is well-taken, but Ben would certainly make a difference if he was healthy.

Wouldn't you think a WR is out there who is better than Johnny Holton? Sure he covers punts, but lots of guys can do that who can also catch.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:29
I think that's why they signed Deon Cain.
Tprod
2:29
Ray, why the sudden drastic decline in pass blocking prowess by the offensive line.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:30
No threat of a running game doesn't help them. But they're not playing well in any aspect. I think that's obvious. Before he did the unthinkable, Myles Garrett was working over Al Villanueva on almost every play. Other guys were losing one-on-one battles. It's not a good situation.

I haven't seen a Steelers Offense this bad in maybe my lifetime (31 yrs old) than I did Thursday night. Even with JUJU and JC healthy  we just cant move the ball like we want and are a bottom 5 unit. Its a shame because this D is special. What is your opinion on what is needed to make the offense good enough to be contenders? coaching included in your opinions...
Ray Fittipaldo
2:31
When you have limited personnel like the Steelers do the coaches have to get creative and do some different things.

Why was the Johnson hit not discussed more. That kind of hit is what the NFL is trying to eliminate
Ray Fittipaldo
2:32
Exactly. But it's easy to understand why the Garrett play did overshadow that. It was a disgusting act by a talented player.

Skipper says he back.  The deletes the tweet.  Any idea on what is going on there?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:33
I have no idea. I saw the tweet too. Not sure why he would delete it.
2:34
James Washington and Deon Cain. That's just a guess. Maybe Diontae Johnson gets out of protocol. That would be huge if he does.

Ray, should the Steelers either started Finney or moved Feiler and not signed Foster?
Ray Fittipaldo

Yes.

Thanks very much for your article on Nov 17 regarding victim blaming, among other things.  It is aggravating to read about so many people willing to back those who cause the problems. Hopefully, this will all go away soon. The Steelers have massive problems on offense - are they going to be able find enough decent RB's and WR's to compete in the next six games?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:35
Depends on your definition of decent.

I have seen players grab each others face masks plenty of times while confronting/fighting each other. I have never seen a player rip off another player's helmet and try to bash his skull in with it.  NEVER .  Why does Rudolph get fined? Also, the coward Larry Ogunjobi  runs up to a helmetless Rudolph with a sucker punch hit from behind and only gets one game? Imagine if he laid that sucker punch hit from behind on Brady. I am more incensed about that cowardly hit than Garrett's.  What say you?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:36
I agree with you. Ogunjobi will have a target on his back on Dec. 1.

Ray,  Do you think JUJU is a true No 1 receiver?  Seems best in the slot with true No 1 outside like AB.  How do you see it?  Thank you.
Ray Fittipaldo

Hard to say with all of the extenuating circumstances, Ben's injury, etc. But the stats don't lie.

Is masons leash starting to shorten?
Ray Fittipaldo

Tomlin said today they like Mason. He believes he earned this job. But he also said Mason has to continue to prove that every week.

What’s your take in the people who blame Rudolph for the melee at the end if the game?
Ray Fittipaldo

They're knuckleheads.

Hi Ray - is Tuzar Skipper coming back? Saw on Twitter that he was, but it is Twitter after all
Ray Fittipaldo

Steelers haven't announced it yet. But they still could.
