What do you expect him to say when he's asked that question in a press conference setting?
Bernard
2:44
Apologies if already asked, but draft priorities if season ended today OT and CB?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:44
And DL.
And ILB
Hart
2:44
How about Joey P from PSU?  Target him in draft?  Late first round?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
But they might be picking in the top 10 or 15. Porter is widely regarded as the top corner in the draft. Not saying he's a top-15 pick at all, but not sure he lasts until late in Round 1 either. The top CBs usually go much earlier each and every year. It's a very important position.

Are there rules against hiring someone like Frank Reich at this point in the season? Special Assistant to the OC or something? Canada can still sit upstairs and wear the headset so Mike Tomlin doesn't have to admit a mistake.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
No there are no rules against something like that.

2:45
Special teams seems to screw up half the time. Isn't it time for a new special teams coach?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:46
Mike Tomlin spent a decent portion of his news conference praising Steve Sims and Pressley Harvin.

Hi Ray, if you were to make changes at OL for next season, who stays and who goes?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
They need a left tackle and could use an upgrade at guard too.
Shane in Colrain
2:47
Did you watch US vs Wales yesterday?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
What sport?
Shane in Colrain
2:48
Should Pickett start throwing tennis balls to Dionte so they can get better in sync?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:48
I say superballs. They tend to bounce longer distances. Improve the deep game!
Hart
2:48
This team reminds me of the mid 80's and we're looking at a 3 yr turn around unlike Cowhers quick one following 6 win season.  What say ye?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:49
I don't think any of those teams from the 1980s had the talent on defense this team has, which in some ways makes what's going on now more disappointing.
Shane in Colrain
2:49
I was referring to the penalties on special teams. Harvin can kick it high and long but if there is another block in the back...
Ray Fittipaldo
2:49
All kinds of penalties have killed this team this year.

To the question about Kazee only playing 35% of the snaps, didn't they say the three would play in this new 3-safety package?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:50
Yes but not the entire game. It's a sub-package, not their base defense.
Tom
2:51
on the punt where Sims bobbled it and didnt gain control until he was in he endzone?  could he have downed it for a touchback instead of running it out?   if so, i hope he knows the rules
Ray Fittipaldo
2:51
Yes he could have, but apparently in the heat of the moment he forgot.
Bernard

Every other QB in AFC North (Jackson, Watson and Burrow) seemingly have a much higher ceiling than Pickett.  As a GM and HC, how do you build a team and plan around that scenario?  Watching the 49ers last night shows its possible to compete if constructed right.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:52
Right. And they tried to replace Jimmy G with a younger QB. It's about the team and the Steelers don't have the pieces in place to look like the 49ers now. They need a lot of upgrades on their roster to get to that point.

After seeing the secondary get torched yet again, do you think it is time the Steelers man up and draft a shutdown corner in the first round (ala Sauce Gardner)?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:52
Yes, if the right corner is there. But Sauce Gardners don't come around every year.
Shane in Colrain
2:53
Canned cranberry sauce or home made?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:54
I've never eaten cranberries in my life.
But we can talk about sweet potatoes!
2:55
OK. That's all the time I have for today. Have to get back to writing.
