Hi Ray - the Inside the NFL footage from Patriots game told the fans all we need to know about Tomlin as a coach. Unprepared, undisciplined, hot mess of an in game coach? Why no call for his head for underachieving for 10 straight years with a HOF QB??
Ray Fittipaldo
12:24
10-year anniversary of the last Super Bowl is next season.

Without a doubt, Ryan Shazier's absence proved a HUGE void the team was unable to fill.  Linebacker was the biggest soft spot yesterday and proved how valuable he is/was.  CAN he return and if not, where does the team go from here?  Draft?  Free agency?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:25
Unfortunately, Ryan is paralyzed. Mike Mitchell came out and told us that Sunday morning on one of the pregame shows. The hope is he walks again. They have to go find his replacement in the draft.

Hi Ray - most talented roster in the NFL hands down and yet another season lost due to incompetence. When will little Art learn from the Penguins and fire the HC after watching him underachieve with a loaded roster. Worked for them with back to back Stanley Cups!! Tomlin has made the Steelers an after thought in this town??
Ray Fittipaldo
12:26
Yes but the Penguins also hired Mike Johnston before they hired Mike Sullivan. If you make that move you better have an idea of who his replacement will be.

What happened to the entire defense? Players couldn’t play. Coaches couldn’t coach. The team has been porous all season for big plays, dispite being ranked 5th - which is hard to believe. Do you think the front office would consider a change at DC? It’s been the defense holding this team back over the last couple of years.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:27
Yes but you also have to acknowledge the growing influence Tomlin has had on that unit since Lebeau left. It's not all Butler's fault.

Ray, I’m still shaking my head in disbelief.  Two less than 4th and ones on not one QB sneak or fullback ray up the middle?  And an on side with 2 timeouts and the two minute warning?  Atrocious!  I get the defense stunk all day, but either way in  that situation, the defense needs to hold to 3 and out. And if you’re going to do that, why not do that in your opponents territory and not in field goal range?  Somebody should be held accountable today -   Tomlin, or Haley or both.  This team was too good to lose to Blake Bortles and Company.  And, no Vince Williams, this isn’t hate throwing, it’s fact, based on the total lack of preparedness and inept decision making that was on display yesterday.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:28
Ownership has to hold some people accountable. Things won't remain the same, that's for sure.

550 yards of offense and still can't win! WTF is that all about? l Maybe, just maybe, they should start playing some defense! Yeah...I know that losing Ryan Shazier was huge for us,but our defense was pretty damn bad while he played too! , OH YEAH...their little TD celebrations are pretty fricking cute too! Guys, you are down by 21 points for God's sake. There is NO NEED to celebrate that at all!!
Ray Fittipaldo

Just letting you vent.

Hi Ray and thanks for your time this season.  So what can we say? We seem to be in the same spot year after year, great regular season and then some bone headed moves in the playoffs to knock us out.  The main thing is, I feel those moves have been from coaches.  Bad offensive play calling when it matters, bad time management (onside kick?), defense never ready in big games?? Is this organization ever going to change that or do we just repeat and hope? Thank you sir
Ray Fittipaldo
12:29
Changes will be coming. It's just a matter of the extent.

Tomlin is just another Andy Reid - a good coach who fails in the post season.  Time for a change...
Ray Fittipaldo
12:29
Well, Tomlin does have one Super Bowl. Andy Reid hasn't done that.

what is this defense missing, i would think its time to replace mitchell, and middle linebacker in draft? free agency?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:31
Top draft needs in order: ILB to replace Shazier, FS to replace Mitchell. The head-scratcher to me is the defensive line. They have so much money invested in that unit and they got pushed around Sunday. Inexcusable. That's not looking like money well-spent.

Is the lack of QB sneak a Ben or Haley issue?  Brees did a simple QB sneak on a 3rd and 1 yesterday.  It is the most routine play in the book, and works 95% of the time.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:32
Ben has been on record the past two years saying he's all for it. Haley has said he doesn't like getting his QB ear-holed and Tomlin has been on record saying that RBs are on the roster for such situations. It's inexplicable to me that they don't run a sneak.
JIm
12:33
Is Haley gone?  If so how would you rate his tenure?  I would keep him I really don't think the offense has been the problem the pasty 3 or 4 years.  The defense is just not good enougth.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:33
Haley had a good run, but you have to produce in the playoffs, and he never got to a Super Bowl with the Steelers. That's how he'll be judged.
Sam
12:34
What happened to Tuitt and Heyward? Is jacksonville offensive line that good?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:35
Good question. Both make $10 million a year. Tuitt had the one tackle on the screen that was good, but that was the only time I noticed him. I didn't notice Heyward much either. They needed more from them.

The empty set tells the other team this is a pass play come after our QB. Why not more play action. I hate the empty set
Ray Fittipaldo
12:35
Have to be able to be in position to call play-action passes. That can't happen when you get behind by 21 points in the first quarter.

Do you think Todd Hailey is out of pittsburgh? If so who would make a good replacement

Why does Tomlin seem to get a pass for Steelers failures? It always seems that something else is to blame
Ray Fittipaldo
12:37
Tomlin isn't getting a pass for this loss. In other years they had injuries. He should get a lot of blame for the way this season ended, and he is.

An NFL championship caliber team  who does not have a 4th and inches QB sneak in the playbook is no longer a team, I root for with unconditional support. Ray, thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:38
Again, it's inexplicable to me that they don't run it. It cost them in the AFC championship game last January too.
Jeff
12:38
I know everyone's whipping boy today is Todd Haley but why is Keith Butler not being mentioned? They could not stop the Jags all day. How can anyone justify Butler keeping his job when the past 2 postseason performances in the playoffs have been an utter disgrace? I just don't see the defense getting any better especially in the secondary since he has been the coordinator.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
I agree, but just acknowledge that Tomlin is more involved in that defense.
Dean
12:39
What pieces need to be added for this defense to be great again?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:40
ILB, FS, maybe another OLB if they don't like Dupree, maybe Cam Sutton if they don't like Burns... I don't really feel great about this defense to be honest with you.

Can 13-3 be considered a failure?  I say yes.  Considering the expectations.   I too come back to the head coach. He sets the tone with his mouth and his team follows.  The lack of Football IQ during situational football is astounding. He leads wth emotion but basic strategy eludes him. Thank God for ballers on offense because they lose by 30if not.  This coach is good at best.  We don’t need more emotion from a head coach, we need more discipline and strategy.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:41
Just letting you vent, Pete.

The Steelers need a culture change. Time to get rid of Tomlin. The Rooneys are better than that
Ray Fittipaldo
12:41
Same, Lonnie.
