What if Kenny Pickett hit George Pickens for an 80-yard touchdown to beat the Chiefs in a wild card game in a few weeks? I'll say Tebow because I think Pickett is competent enough to become a backup in a second act.

Hello Ray! Thanks for the chats. Amazing info and insight you give us.
Ray Fittipaldo
10:22
Thanks Sergio!
Mr Rooney

With the emphasis on the Green Dot and defensive alignment for the Steelers, it begs the question...is the Steelers defensive scheme too complex for this roster?  Or are the Steelers running a pretty standard scheme relative to other franchises?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:23
I think you make a good point. When you have to go deep down the depth chart and communication is an issue maybe you need to play base and more vanilla rather than risking the mistakes that can come otherwise.
Mr Rooney
10:23
Belichick has abused the Steelers as HC of the Patriots for years.  Clearly Brady was a huge part of that domination.  Does Belichick have another miracle in him to take down the Steelers Thursday night?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:23
After watching the Steelers play against the Cardinals, Belichick doesn't need a miracle. All he needs is maybe six points.

Ray - love your insight.  It's hard to watch Jake Browning in his second start do what he did last night and not ask what is missing from the Steelers and Pickett (or any QB).  Is there talent eval that bad or are they that bad at developing their players?  Browning looked 100% better in 1 week and there was clearly a game plan developed to help him.  If the Bengals can do it why can't the Steelers ever seem to do something similar?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:24
Because they have Zac Taylor and a professional NFL playbook to which to work from.
Hammer
10:25
If the offense sputters again with the Pats, do you think it's time to give Mason Rudolph another shot?   I can 't see how it would hurt, except making the Rooney's lament Trubisky's paycheck.
Ray Fittipaldo
10:25
The Patriots have a good defense and a terrible offense. The Steelers should do whatever it takes to win this game. If that means punting 12 times so be it.

No pressure Ray, but... is there any hope?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:26
Hope is dwindling.

Hey Ray  Sorry but Sunday Loss at home like that so sloppy and ill Prepared does Tomlin take any Heat
Ray Fittipaldo
10:26
I think he's taking a lot of heat from the media. Not sure if it matters to the owner though.
Ryan
10:27
Ray if Roberts doesn’t play this week don’t they need to move someone for Martinez if so who and does Myles Jack get a helmet if Roberts is out
Ray Fittipaldo
10:27
I'm sure Martinez or Jack will be up and one of them starting. Just not sure who yet.

Feels like we have a similar stretch coming up as the 85-88 Steelers
Ray Fittipaldo
10:28
Those teams didn't have a franchise quarterback either.
steelmann58
10:28
Ray think Rooney and Omar will have a say in the Next OC?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:29
I think after Tomlin's last two hires at OC he needs to be steered in the right direction by someone.

Ray Think letting Flores go and Keeping Austin was a Mistake? Think Austin was Lucky that we had Canada to deflect some of the heat off Him
Ray Fittipaldo
10:29
No I think Austin is a good coach. Injuries are taking a toll. And I'm not sure they can stop the bleeding.

Cam has been quiet since coming back. Is he still hurt?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:30
I don't think he's hurt, but he's not looking like All-Pro Cam. They need him to be down the stretch with all the other injuries on defense.

10:31
We're stuck with the same underachieving playbook for the rest of the year regardless of QB/coordinator/ play caller.  To really give KP a chance, does or should he have a large impact on next OC?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:32
But doesn't a franchise QB overcome a bad OC? I mean, you watch the games, right? Pickett is missing open receivers with regularity. He doesn't have pocket presence. He doesn't read his progressions. It's not all on the previous OC and the offense.

Do the steelers have a professional offense?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:33
No they don't.
The one and only truth
10:34
Almost 40 year old Joe Flacco, who was basically scraped off the sidewalk with a week to prepare, came in and threw fo 250 yards and 2 touchdowns against LA. Is this a further indictment on Pickett and the offensive coaching staff and Mike T?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:34
Not to mention Jake Browning going 32 for 37 last night.
John from Plum
10:35
I can't provide the direct quote but TJ said something along the lines of the NFL has something against him. Any whispers about what would have motivated him to say something like that?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:35
He's sick of being hogtied to the ground by offensive tackles.
The Dude
10:36
Isn’t Pickett’s injury really a blessing for the Steelers? It is obvious at this point he isn’t the answer so why not let the other two guys have a try? If Trubisky has a bad first half bring in Rudolph, just like bringing in a relief pitcher for the starter. Seriously how much worse can it get?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:37
I wouldn't call it a blessing, but this is a big opportunity for Trubisky.

In the instance during Sunday's game regarding the 1 yard play for a touchdown...your opinion should Warren have been a better choice than Harris?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:38
They needed a better play call. A run-pass option, something on the perimeter that stressed the defense more. Running 22 up the middle was all too predictable.
Matt
10:39
Given where we'll likely be picking, what position will the Steelers prioritize in the first round of the draft?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:39
Depends what the front office thinks of the QB situation. Maybe they'd trade up if they don't believe in Pickett.
10:40
Ok thanks for taking part in the chat. Players interviews begin a few minutes.
