Hi Ray - The pass to Hawkins on 3rd and goal is ridiculous play call. Does he have any catches at any level in his resume?  The wheel route to 26 was an equally unbelievable bad play call. Give me a shovel or jet sweep.  If it those calls would have failed, the probability of sucess would have been much higher.

The tackle eligible play was terrible. He was on the COVID list for about 10 days before getting activated. He allowed Chase Young to push him three yards into the backfield before attempting to get into his route. Bad all around. And like you I wasn't a fan of the pass to McFarland either. Get the ball into the hands of your best players. If thyey fail then you can live with it. But throwing to a guy like McFarland is crazy given the lack of experience he has with Ben.

McDonald does not have to be targeted when he plays, just block so the running back can gain a yard.

McDonald was in there on the goal line. He didn't make any big mistakes that I saw, but he wasn't exactly blowing people off the ball, either. He was getting stalemates. It seems like that's anyone on this team does.

Shaun Sarrett took over from Munchak 2 years now and it looks like the run scheme went with Mike. Any thoughts of the Steelers attempting to bring him back after the season?

If the play was officiated the right way the clock would have just run out. That's why the Steelers all ran off the field. They knew the rule and the officials did not. But I'm sure the NFL will call Tomlin today to apologize. That will make it better.

Do you think if they put DJ back to return punts and he had a couple big run backs that might somehow translate to improved confidence in catching passes?

I'd try anything at this point. Heck, they might need a punt return to win a game the way the offense is going.
