If the Patriots don't get a bye I think the Steelers have as good a shot as any other team.

Hi Ray. Obviously a season saving huge win yesterday. Just a different thought,. On that final 4th and 15 heave by Brady to goal line, the ball went right through Burnett's hands and although pass was broken up, it should have been an easy interception,. The ball deflected and hit off of Gronk's arm. Do you agree that other than Haden, there are zero ball hawking or ball aware defenders in secondary.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
The interception numbers certainly suggest that.

What do we know about the rash of defensive injuries from yesterday?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
I don't know if there was a rash. Bud Dupree has a bone bruise of some sort. Chickillo played a lot in his place. Heyward came back into the game and seemed to be fine afterward.

After the AFC title game a couple of years ago, I think a lot of us thought this was a hopeless matchup for the Steelers. I don't want to make too much of it, but after last year's game against New England and yesterday, is it safe to say that the Steelers shouldn't fear the Patriots, and seem to be able to put together solid defensive performances against Brady?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:46
I agree to a point, but I'd still take the Patriots if there is a rematch in Foxboro. The crowd wouldn't be an issue. Their penalties would almost certainly decrease. Every team is better at home but they are especially better at home this year than on the road.

Your chances of Steelers making playoffs?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:46
Depends what happens in L.A. Saturday night.

Will the Saints shut it down on Sunday and rest players.  What are they still playing for?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:47
They play tonight, but I think they need two wins so secure the No. 1 seed. Or one win and another Rams loss. Boy, they didn't look great last night. They seem to be having a tough time of it lately too.

Why do certain Defensive players keep running into each other?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:48
I saw Burnett run into Edmunds. I can't recall any others from last night, but I might have missed them.

Hey maybe he knew Brady's tendencies then!

I typically like to overreact whenever we win (going to Super Bowl) or lose (season is over, why can’t we draft?). But now I feel like the Patriots didn’t really represent the huge challenge they normally do more than us delivering a post-season worthy performance. We seemed more steady than amazing (except for Haden’s interception). Was actually more excited to see Washington, Samuels, and Rogers getting going. Should I be more excited?

Let's see what happens this weekend first.

Ray #JaySam looked like a Le’Veon Bell out there to me which could make Connor expandable if he keeps this up right?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:49
Conner still has two years left on his rookie contract. No need to make anyone expendable just yet.

3rd and short when NE kicked the FG.  Were you surprised they did not go for it.  They seems to play more conservatively yesterday against us that I am accustomed to.  Also - some uncharacteristic drops that helped.  Pitt D did well, particularly at end, but NE helped early.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:50
Agree on all fronts. Very conservative stuff from Bellichick.

Wow, Steelers lead the league in red zone TD% and it's the highest percentage in 15 years league wide. How can anyone complain about the playcalling?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:51
I'll have to check on what you say there about the past 15 years, but their goal line percentage isn't the same as their red-zone percentage.

Ray, Yesterday's win was certainly exhilarating, finally beating Brady and the Patriots. My biggest concern going forward is with Ben. By my count, he missed a half dozen throws to open receivers downfield 20+ yards. His accuracy must improve if they're to win in the play-offs--why has he been so inconsistent this season? Is it age-related?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:52
Not sure. He did miss a few throws. It happens. Brady missed a few too. He also threw a crucial pick to Joe Haden. It happens to every QB, even the great ones. But I agree he needs to be more consistent going forward.

Just curious.  If pats scored at end of game do you think BB goes for 2 or settles for OT?  I prob kick and go into OT with Brady.  You?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:52
He was asked that after the game and refused to answer.

Can we live with Dupree making no impact plays?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:53
Dupree was injured yesterday.

Is Ola still on the active roster?
Ray Fittipaldo

Yes he was merely a healthy scratch yesterday.

What did you think of the jump ball on 3rd and 6 right before the field goal?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:54
Is that the one to JuJu? I was OK with it.

Better overall conference this year NFC/AFC?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:54
Good question. I'd lean toward NFC right now, but I don't think there is a dominant team or a clear Super Bowl favorite right now.

Burnett is just ok, oft injured and a tad slow.  Is he coming back next year?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:56
They could move on from him and it wouldn't be a huge dead cap hit. I guess it's a matter of how they feel about Marcus Allen. If they think Allen can take over the same role next year then my guess is Burnett will be gone. But if they don't have confidence in him I'm guessing Burnett will be back. I just don't know how they feel about Allen. He really hasn't played much. Kind of hard to get a bead on that situation.

Looked like the best defensive game plan I have ever seen the Steelers coaches put together.  The focus and effort put into it seemed visible.  Makes me believe they really do get caught looking ahead rather than focusing on the game in front of them.  Didn't see anywhere close to the effort and focus when they played Oakland.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:57
All good points. The defensive coaches do deserve a ton of credit.
