If Watt breaks the NFL sack record in less than 16 games played, does he get any real MVP consideration?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
I think he should, but I don't see a lot of love for TJ when it comes to the MVP.
2:48
See a lot of love nationally...

Most football coaches say the most important member of the o-line is center. If the center from Iowa (Linderbaum) is available whereever the Steelers end up picking in the 1st round, I take him, admit Green was a reach, and move on. Thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:48
Linderbaum is a good player. Centers don't usually go in Round 1. So that would be a big upset if he did.

I take great offense to your describing punting the football as "All he has to do is drop the ball and boot it." I'd love to see you do it.

Hey Chuck Noll didn't trust you in Super Bowl X. He ran the ball and put the game in the hands of his defense. So take that, Bobby!

The Steelers finally throw past the sticks on 3rd down and they go fade to McCloud. What is going on?

It's the Bizarro World of NFL coordinating.

I know you get questions fast and furious but I never said anything about Banner on DL. I referenced OL. If you're going to be snarky to someone who posts serious questions at least be accurate.
Ray Fittipaldo

I thought it was in reference to defense.

Have you heard any discussion about moving Bush to the outside?  He seems to get lost and bullied on the inside but perhaps his speed (if he still has any speed) would be better served as an outside versus inside LB.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:52
Right because there are a lot of 5-11, 225-pound outside linebackers in 3-4 defenses.

Claypool seemed on the sideline late in the 4th qtr.  injury or coach's decision?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:53
He wasn't mentioned as having an injury in Tomlin's postgame presser and Tomlin did not mention him today when he went over injuries. If you remember, he dropped a pass and maybe played one play after that. He didn't see the field very much after that.

We passed on Quinn Meinerz to draft Green.  Poor decision?   At least Meinerz can play guard if necessary. Bigger, stronger and plays to the whistle.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:54
Green definitely has to get bigger and stronger. He gets pushed around too much. His presence in the middle sabotages a lot of the running game.

The Steelers have already beat Baltimore and Buffalo so if they could find a way to win Sunday I'd have to say they got a shot. What say you?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:55
The most important games are against the Browns and Ravens because they are division games and their easiest path to the playoffs is by winning the division, not earning a wild card berth.

That pre--game celebration by the Titans on the Steelers' logo was plain dumb. Weren't you surprised to see Bud there as well? Idk if he was doing the dumb thing with his teammates but he certainly wasn't restraining anyone. No more love for Bud.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:57
Yes, it was stupid. You don't see that every day, but apparently the Titans do it every game. Doesn't make it right, but I guess it's noteworthy. Probably speaks more to Mike Vrabel than anything else.

Ray take a guess for 2022 - young new QB like Pickett or someone else, or a veteran retread?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:59
If Pickett is there when the Steelers pick I'd think long and hard about it because I think he alleviates some of the issues with his mobility. If you get an established starter such as Derek Carr or Jimmy Garoppolo then you have to invest in the line and surround them with a running game.

looks like the Chiefs have a ton of covid cases.  Do we catch a break or will the reschedule?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:01
I don't think they want to reschedule again. Too much of a competitive disadvantage playing on a short week, etc. The protocols have been changed so vaccinated players can play without testing. That's their answer.

Well is writing a good column just putting some words on a page?
Ray Fittipaldo

In my case, yes, because the greatness just flows from my fingers.
OK that's it for today. Merry Christmas to everyone! We'll do another chat next Tuesday.
