That Fake Punt call at our own 42 up 4 with 4 minutes to play was the dumbest coaching decision I have ever witnessed both as a sports fan and ex college athlete. That in my mind is a fireable offense. His decision making and lack of prep, in game management and total lack of discipline in the locker room - enough is enough - it’s time for a change in culture. Do you think this HC is capable of taking us to another SB? If so, why?
Ray Fittipaldo

I think the decision to keep Ben on the sidelines in Oakland was worse to be honest with you. But as I stated earlier I would have punted. I thought the defense was playing well enough.

honest opinion, do you think rooney rule would factor into steelers holding on to tomlin longer than they would actually like to?  if mccarthy can get fired...why not tomlin.....
Ray Fittipaldo
11:49
The Rooney Rule has nothing to do with it. They hired him 12 years ago. Plenty of African-American head coaches have come and gone since then. They keep him because they believe he's a good coach.

Why did the booth not review that 4th down PI call on Haden when the ball was tipped? Ive always understood thats a reviewable play
Ray Fittipaldo
11:51
It was reviewed. We reported that in our coverage last night. Al Riveron looked at it and determined the ball was not tipped. And he didn't stop the game to look at it longer. That, to me, is the biggest issue. I thought it was tipped. I've seen replays. You mean to tell me Drew Brees, who is often referred to as the purest passer in NFL history, is going to throw a tight spiral that suddenly turns into a duck after it leaves his hands? Come on now. Why have booth reviews?
Ryan
11:52
Do you think starting next season theyll make PI reviewable?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:53
You're going down a slippery slope there. I'd just rather hire better officials. Make them full-time. Train them. Make them work 40 hours a week. This is a multi-billion dollar industry. Why do we have insurance salesmen making season-changing calls. It's stupid.

As soon as I saw the 3rd and 2 formation,  I knew it was a bad decision.   I know there are nuances that a fan like me might not know about, but the Saints have been killing them in tight, north/south running plays all day.....I wonder what they are thinking?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:54
Can't use Ridley there. He has a history of fumbling.

Next year, Ben, AB, and Haden are all one year older. There's a significant likelihood one of those 3 begins to drop off. That's why  this year is so disappointing.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:54
Right. They're wasting talent.

Does L Bell get transition tagged? And if not do u think we draft RB high?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:55
Why? You have Conner and Samuels. RB is way down their list this offseason.

Isn't it time for the NFL to break into their billion dollar piggy bank and hire full time refs?   That bunch last night looked like a bad HS crew,  and not just because of the Haden debacle.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:55
Yes they should. Something has to be done. Fire Riveron. Pay Mike Perreria or someone like him to come back and oversee the whole operation.

NFL games are rigged! Your thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:56
I don't think the officials purposely rigs the game, but they have far too many who are inept.

Almost worked was not about the fake, it was about the Saints scoring with enough time to allow the Steelers to still score.  But whatever...
Ray Fittipaldo
11:56
Gotcha.

Can anyone explain with this talent, and the talent Balt has how they are going to the playoffs and we're not?  Could it be coaching?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:57
Ravens on their details more. Wining close games. Steelers finding ways to lose. Plus their defense is night and day better than the Steelers.

What's up with Bud Dupree?  He seems like he has a ton of physical talent but he never makes plays. Always blocked. Does he get resigned?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:59
I wouldn't sign him to a big deal. I'd try to get him for $5 million or so a year. If he balks then pull the offer and don't pay him the $10 million he's on the books for 2019. He's not worth it.

I thought the Saints receiver pushed off on the winning TD, your thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:59
Yeah it looked that way. That's why if you let that go you let the Haden one go too. Too many inconsistencies with the way the game is officiated.
