Win their final two and have two of the following four teams lose at least once over the next two weeks: Bills, Texans, Colts and Jaguars. There are other ways for them to get in, but I think this is the easiest way to qualify.

Does Pittsburgh look at QB options this offseason like Fields/Cousins/Murray or do you think they continue to roll with Pickett?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:30
I think they'll roll with Pickett, but they'll want to provide some competition for him whether that's by a free agent or a draft pick. Not saying a high draft pick, but a draft pick with some potential.
Yates
10:30
Ray-  is the down year for 88 just that. Or has he peaked?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:30
Like a lot of players on this offense, I want to see what he looks like in a different offense.
Jay Daven
10:31
Ray, why did it take the coaches 15 games to have a QB play great for the entire game?  Their coaches need to be replaced as well on their team philosophy, what do you think?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:31
I think you'll see a lot of change on the staff once the offseason begins.

Forget Rudolph v Pickett. To me, Mason’s strong play reinforced what should be obvious to the Steelers organization and its fans: it’s a QB league, and good QB play can elevate a decent roster to contender status.
Ray Fittipaldo
10:32
You're right, but it was only one game by Rudolph against a bad defense. Remember, Pickett put up 421 yards against this same Bengals defense one month ago. They only scored 16 points. That's the major difference when making the comparison.
Walter Sobchek

Mason throws the best deep ball on the team. We need to stretch the field more with 14. The team responded well to Mason starting. He earned another start. Am I wrong?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:33
I agree with you. We'll see what Tomlin says on the matter at noon.

Hi Ray.  Since I am from Punxsy, I will make a prediction.  Mason will start against the Seahawks, and they will win.  Looking ahead to week 18, the Ravens will have clinched, and they hold out most starters, the Steelers win and go to the playoffs.  What do you think of my predictions?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:33
I would definitely say you're an optimist.
Yates
10:35
Ray Is 30 your offensive MVP?  Certainly endeared himself to Steelers Nation!!
Ray Fittipaldo
10:35
He'd get my vote. He's their best player by far.
Mark
10:35
hi Ray, if the ravens beat dolphins next weekend and clinch conference, what are the chances they sit starters against Steelers in the final game?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:36
Very good chance. They'll want to rest Lamar Jackson and make sure he's ready for the playoffs. They'd rest some others too, but it would still be a tough game. It's not like they can call up minor leaguers to play the game. Most of the starters would have to play.

10:37
Do you think they will either draft a good qb or bring in a good one to openly compete with Pickett?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:37
Let's put it this way: I don't see them coming back with the same QB room after what happened this season.

10:37
Silly Q...  in your opinion who would the Steelers match up better against; Miami or Buffalo?  (I realize it's very premature)
Ray Fittipaldo
10:38
You're right. It's very premature. Depends on the injury situation for both teams.

10:38
Why was Mitch extended after last season? Due to his good games against Tampa and Carolina? He was terrible in all other games played
Ray Fittipaldo
10:39
They liked a lot of things about him. Not sure if they feel the same way now though.
Bruce
10:40
Hey Ray, I live less than 10 miles from Todd Haley and I've heard some rumors around here that he has been in contact with the Steelers, do you think they could be considering him for OC again?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:41
I think they should cast a wide net for the next OC. Haley does have experience as a head coach and coordinator, but I think they should interview a bunch of candidates to see exactly what they want.
Benson DuBois
10:42
Was the Bengals defense paying too much attention to stopping 'Muth?  Interesting that he had 9 catches in their first game, nothing on Saturday.
Ray Fittipaldo
10:43
I was surprised how many times Pickens and other WRs had 1-on-1 coverage on the outside. I'm not saying they made a bad decision about trying to take away 88, but having 14 single covered as many times as they did was baffling.
Tom M.
10:43
There’s been lots of talk about major shakeup on offense coaches beyond just the OC as well there should be. The defense has also underperformed, so should there also be big changes there too?  I might give a pass to the ILB coach due to all the injuries there. Also, isn’t it about time for a new ST coach?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:45
The Steelers have three blocked punts this season. Their place kicker has only missed two field goals. Yeah the punting has been inconsistent, but I'm not looking to fire Danny Smith. He very well might retire, but I think he's the least of Tomlin's worries on the staff. As for the defense, did you know they're second in the league in takeaways and seventh in points allowed? And they have dealt with some major injuries at key spots.
Dj
10:46
If we don’t win a playoff game how do the Steelers extend Tomlin, having not won a playoff game in 7 years which is a lifetime.  Madden and Lombardi had careers only of 10 years
Ray Fittipaldo
10:47
The Rooneys will do it if they feel like Tomlin is the right person to lead them out of the current situation. I'm not saying he is, but they'd have to feel very confident in their next head coach of they made that move. Or in how they go about winning.
Quickquestion
10:48
hi Ray. Besides slightly more mobility, What qualities does KP have that MR does not?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:49
Not many. And it's funny. Tomlin always talked about QB mobility during the final years of Ben Roethlisberger. They get Pickett in the first round, but there haven't been many designed runs and they approach seems to be only to run when it's a weighty down if the passing play that was called breaks down or no one is open.
Pat from Ellwood city

Do you think myles jack will start this week
Ray Fittipaldo
10:49
He played 47 snaps against the Bengals, the most of any ILB in a Steelers unform.

Would you take Penix Jr., Bo Nix or J.J. McCarthy if any are there when the Steelers draft in April?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:50
Not in the first round.

10:51
When do you fly out to Seattle?
Ray Fittipaldo

Saturday,

What was the biggest difference in Mitch's lackluster performance this year? He looked confident when he stepped in for Pickett last year.
